Yesterday, I introduced a Motion to disallow regulations introduced by the Albanese government. These regulations would effectively ban the use of cash, with only two exceptions: supermarkets and service stations, which would be required to accept cash up to $500 between 7 am and 9 pm. By decreeing that no one else has to accept cash, the Labor government is supporting the banks' campaign to eliminate cash, increase profits and harvest data on your private purchases. Labor could not refute our reasons for the disallowance, so they resorted to pure political theatre — exactly what we have come to expect from this government.
