@4TaxFairness That's right, the tax cuts which ended the "middle class" the country knew in the 1940's thru 1970's. My cousin, a bank CEO at the time, said the Reagan tax cuts gave his paycheck the biggest raise he had ever seen in his life. That's how it worked for many high salaried folks.

@Dwillydo @4TaxFairness @stablegeniusinc Well, 1940s-1960s not great for people of color. But yes. Higher taxation allows truly competitive millionaires to keep "winning" but to also support their country which permitted them these wins in the first place.

@4TaxFairness @stablegeniusinc MAGAs conveniently forget that from the 1940s through the mid-60s the highest marginal tax rate was 90% and higher. Of course, few people paid that rate because few people were as obscenely rich as today’s 1%. But wasn’t that when America was great?

If tax cuts for the rich trickled down, we'd all be thriving. But 42% of the American population is considered poor or low-income today. And billionaires are worth a record $8 TRILLION. All we've done since 1982 is give the rich tax breaks.
