this may feel mean but this isn’t about one person, it’s about an industry that rewards access over competence. media platforms would rather hand a mic to whoever trends than to people who actually know how to listen, think, and ask something worth answering

Jake Shane’s Vanity Fair #Oscar party interviews are going viral for all the wrong reasons. From awkward moments with Kris Jenner to calling an Oscar nominated film’s sick child “annoying” while talking over Julia Fox and Damson Idris, the chaos said it all: red carpet reporting is a craft, and not every influencer is a reporter. variety.com/2026/film/colu…

The manosphere doesn't speak positively about men though. It's all "You have no value except your wallet, if you don't lift, if you're not treating women as subhuman then youre a loser" etc. It's nihilistic, misogynist, blackpill sht where the only options are monster or loser.
LBC@LBC

'Who else is talking positively about boys and men?' The creator behind The Tin Men thinks the rise of the manosphere is 'totally unsurprising'.

This is heartbreaking to me 😔 Le Guin did write essays in which she stated that there are things about some novels that she would have handled differently if she had written them later in life, but editing them erases that journey of the author and the evolution of her work

I am normally not one to wantonly throw around phrases like “enemies of civilization” but that is genuinely how I feel about people who inherit the copyright to a dead author’s work and take it upon themselves to “update” and replace the original

Nicola Coughlan speaks about the body-shaming she has received from ‘Bridgerton’ viewers: “You know what was really bizarre was, when I was shooting that series, I was exercising a lot because I knew I had to, so I had lost a bunch of weight – I was probably a size 10 and one of the corsets was a size 8. And then people talked about how I was plus size and I was like, ‘How f*cked are we that I am the biggest woman you want to see on screen?’” “I remember this really drunk girl once talking to me in a bathroom being like, ‘I loved [Bridgerton] because of your body.’ And started talking about my body, and I was like, ‘I want to die. I hate this so much…’ It’s really hard when you work on something for months and months of your life, you don’t see your family, you really dedicate yourself and then it comes down to what you look like – it’s so f*cking boring.” (elle.com/uk/life-and-cu…)

It’s funny how we are constantly having the “should writers have to read?” discourse, when the question should be “why are you even writing stories if you don’t like them?”What made you want to create something you’ve never enjoyed?

Once upon a time "provocateur" might've meant Von Trier, Haneke, Noe or Denis, but, like everything else in these wretched times, it's been wholly debased. Now empty & sterile films plague us, but any critical response is castigated as "intellectualism" which must be repented for
Joe Russo@joerussotweets

The way Academy-Award winner Emerald Fennell gets under the skin of “intellectuals” and “cinephiles” should be studied. She’s a provocateur operating at the highest of (Wuthering) Heights and it drives them INSANE and I absolutely love it.

This is the thing! You can’t flaunt being such a provocateur and then completely fold in the face of interesting provocation. Especially since the things in the book have already been done in shows like Game of Thrones, so there’s not even a good reason for you to chicken out.

she’s going to cast an actress too old to play Dolores and have her and Humbert engage in a consensual sadomasochistic relationship. the plot twist is that she was the seductress all along. some argue that it’s better than Kubrick’s adaptation because it gives Dolores agency

There is something so SO profoundly wrong about one of the fittest, most dominant athletes of all time advertising weight-loss drugs during one of the most watched events on earth. Bleak doesn’t even cover it. What a crying shame.
