Eh, they made the playoffs in an expanded field and got wiped off the field in the first round. 90 years of futility against that doesn't mean they should be given the benefit of the doubt yet.
You actually missed the most impressive thing they've done, which predated the NIL in March Madness.
Could be worse though. You could be aTm....
English

@RottenApple80 @BrennanBaxt Tech has made significant enough impact in 2 seasons among all its sports to get the attention of everyone. No title yet but it’s only a matter of time as Tech athletics has been trending up since NIL was made legal
English

Texas Tech becoming public enemy #1 in NIL, Football, and now Softball is fantastic for the school.
English

@JoeSiegler @Evan_P_Grant They have multiple, including in the WS against the Phillies.
English

@Evan_P_Grant Astros have one of those already - think it was 4 or 5 pitchers?
English

@BrooksAustinBA Texas because of the brand. Makes everyone insane.
English

@BaseballQuotes1 No no, Bo Jackson throwing out Harold Reynolds. Full Stop.
English

@robtnolen @KalshiFB While Early got the better of that hit, I believe years later he said that hit actually fractured his spine and initiated his career winding down.
English

@KalshiFB There is a YouTube video of a collision between Jack Tatum and Earl Campbell. Hardest hit by 2 players I ever saw
English

@KalshiFB Good list, except none of the top row were harder hitters than Earl Campbell. In fact, go youtube Jack Tatum's goal line hit on Campbell - Tatum was not the last man standing on that 1 on 1.

@rcb05 If they paid market rates, they didn't get an absolute bargain. They paid market.
Just seems like you're reaching for any kind of win and validation. Part of the problem with the fan base.
English

@RottenApple80 I feel like we’re splitting hairs here. Pretty sure you you know the intent of my post.
English

The redevelopment of 103,000-seat Kyle Field - which included two entirely new sides of the stadium, a new press box, new video boards, a new exterior and significant upgrades to infrastructure like concourses, restrooms, etc. - cost $485 million in 2014/15.
Absolute bargain.

College Football Zone@CollegeFBonX
Northwestern’s Ryan Field will officially opens on October 2nd against Penn State. It will hold 35,000 fans and cost approximately $870 million to complete.
English

@rcb05 But that's not really the same thing as getting an absolute bargain
English

@RottenApple80 I know we paid market rates. But raising nearly double the amount of money today would be quite the task. Ended up being very well-timed.
I bought my house in 2011 and refinanced in 2021. Just because I paid market rates doesn’t mean I didn’t get a great deal retrospectively.
English

@rcb05 Do you have details on comparisons of building materials, finishes, utilities, tech stack, etc. between the two?
Size is one variable, yes. So are the others.
Aggie paid market for their renovations and that in no way should bother you.
English

They've been also rans the last 2 seasons and aren't going deep this year either - you know that (I hope).
Winning the crappy AL West or backing to the WC in a weak AL? Great, but that's not really being committed to winning - you also know that.
So, now that we're back to reality - at least considering a rebuild at this stage, especially given the dreadful contract and farm system situations the team is in, isn't anything all that crappy.
Getting this worked up over the mere discussion of it on twitter? Now THAT is some fanboy crap.
Look in the mirror.
English

@RottenApple80 The astros are 4 games out of 1st, with reinforcements on the way and an owner who is committed to winning, publicly and privately.
forget what the owner has done/said historically? Thats preposterous.
its C-R-A-P.
English

This is pure fanboy fantasy crap.
Jim "the window is always open" Crane has not once, in any manner whatsoever, intimated he's even considering a rebuild (which is what trading Yordan would be)
Pure "OMG imagine this team got this guy" pie in the sky dreaming out loud #astros
Just Baseball@JustBB_Media
The Rays are in prime position to go acquire a superstar, and Yordan Alvarez is the PERFECT option 👀
English

@rcb05 Right and considering regional land and construction costs (Chicago > CS) looks like aggie paid market rates after all.
Good try though 😉.
English

@RottenApple80 Looks like adjusted for inflation, Kyle Field renovation would be $711.5 million in today’s prices. (that’s general inflation, not anything construction-specific)
English

@RobFlis Chris referenced UFO Footage he saw when he was much younger as the catalyst for his interest in the topic.
Can you ask him what footage that was specifically?
English

😂 Yeah that's what it was. Not moving to the SEC with Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame already scheduled.
No, it was Tech's impending 1 good season (that ended with a terrible thud) after being insignificant for 90 years prior that made Texas all of a sudden not interested.
Guns down delulu.
English

@hookem_rlm Amazing how Steve Sarkisian and Texas suddenly lost interest in scheduling Texas Tech once NIL leveled the playing field. Easy to look like a genius when your toughest opponent is a directional school and a preseason poll.
English

TX and OU played them for years. Time for them to find another good team to lose to
J.D. PicKell@jdpickell
Texas and Texas Tech just need to spot the ball. It makes too much sense.
