Perhaps the rudders resemble fins or flukes of large whales but this population is known for eating tuna 🤷

In a one sample t-test, you have to first calculate the mean, substacting 1 from N represents this use of the information in the mean before the t-test. In a two sampled t-test you calculate 2 means, so N-2
