Right wing “influencers” who keep attacking Prime Minister Carney with the “69 references in the Epstein files” nonsense need to stop. Here is a factual rebuttal from @Reil76. Almost all of the references are simply Carney’s name showing up in news media stories about UK monetary policy emailed to Epstein in investment newsletters. And the other references are completely unrelated to the Epstein scandal. Using this smear is no better than the kooky left wing “influencers” claiming that Anaida Poilievre is a foreign agent because her family are Venezuelan refugees; or that Pierre Poilievre can’t obtain security clearance, all of which is complete bosh. You have countless ways to offer legitimate criticisms of Liberal policies and conduct, without recklessly implying that the Prime Minister was associated with Epstein’s vile criminal enterprise. Posting this junk might drive your engagement numbers with a small number of perennially angry and terminally online people. But it does nothing to persuade rational people that Canada needs a Conservative government. And we don’t have to look far to see what can happen to influencers who debase themselves in this way. The incentives to post ever more outrageous content can lead people to where Candace Owens now finds herself, circulating ever more outlandish and defamatory conspiracy theories.
