I don’t think I’ve seen a history of Fed-Treasury relations. The story is begging to be written. The era of the accord eventually degenerated into fiscal dominance in the late-1960s. The reason it took a while it seems was an actual GOP commitment to fiscal discipline under Ike. We’re completely lacking in any commitment to fiscal discipline in either party. So, in our case, a Fed-Treasury accord is just another name for fiscal dominance, essentially through the destruction of Fed independence. For if you no longer have an independent central bank, there is no game of chicken, and no possibility of monetary dominance.
James E. Thorne@DrJStrategy

For the record: Warsh, Druckenmiller, Bessent, and the New Accord Moment When I first floated the idea of a renewed accord between the Fed and Treasury, akin to the pre‑1951 dynamic, the reaction from Wall Street researchers was predictably skeptical. Likewise, when I argued that Warsh would be an ideal Fed chair candidate and that his alignment with Druckenmiller and Bessent made such an accord plausible, the notion was met with the usual hand‑waving. Now that Warsh himself is publicly advancing the same idea, the Street appears, as usual, to be arriving fashionably late to the obvious.
