AI is rapidly reshaping cancer care, but where do we draw the line? in this episode of Oncology Unscripted, @marshalj23 explores both the promise and the pressure of AI in oncology, from predicting treatment responses and supporting clinical trials to raising deeper questions about compassion, bias, and accountability. As AI continues to evolve, one thing becomes clear: access to information is expanding, but interpretation and human connection remain critical. The future of oncology won’t be defined by AI alone, but by how clinicians choose to use it. 🔗 Watch the full episode: bit.ly/4kcAhlI #Oncology #AIinHealthcare #CancerCare #MedicalEducation #EvidenceToAction

Congratulations to Dr. Martha Gay on recently receiving a 2026 Faculty Scholar in Cancer Research Award from the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). Dr. Gay, assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at Georgetown’s School of Medicine, researches liver cancer and the underlying mechanisms of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), including studies on how targeted therapies may interrupt disease progression. @LombardiCancer

This is a cause that’s personal. Another amazing year at the @RueschCenter Golf Tournament in support of GI cancer research. For nearly a decade, this event has brought people together and each year its impact grows. It's a cause that remains very personal. Gastrointestinal cancers account for 1 in 3 cancer deaths globally – and my own family is counted in these numbers. We must keep pushing forward to find a cure. I'm grateful to all who attended, donated, and supported from afar.

‘It is highly unusual to see dramatic changes in disease patterns within a single generation. But that's precisely what veteran oncologist Dr. John Marshall (@marshalj23), head of clinical research @LombardiCancer at Georgetown University has observed. "Thirty-plus years ago, when I first started, no one — no one; zero number of patients — were in my clinic under the age of 50 with colon cancer," he says. "And now it is almost half of the patients that I see.”What is behind the rise in younger colorectal cancers?’ npr.org/2026/04/27/nx-…

Congratulations to Jeanne Ruesch, founder of the Otto J. Ruesch Center for the Cure of Gastrointestinal (GI) Cancers, who received the Patrick Healy, S.J. Award at this year's John Carroll Weekend. This award is conferred upon an individual who is not an alumnus/a, but whose professional achievements and record of service to @Georgetown University and the community exemplify the ideals and traditions of Georgetown. Hear how the @RueschCenter @LombardiCancer is carrying out cutting-edge research, partnering with patients to provide individualized cures, and collaborating nationally to improve survival rates. youtu.be/tCX_gjGxKkk?si…
