Angry locals in Katani took matters into their own hands on Wednesday and blocked access to feeder roads heavily damaged by trucks diverting there after irreparably damaging the main substandard tarmac road. “Machakos County collects millions daily from the quarries but they allow these trucks use our roads, maintained by us. We even raise money to try make the roads but are destroyed immediately,” one of the angry residents said.

@Wavinya_Ndeti Asante for that part. Sasa mhesh apart from 360 issue, tusaidie kidogo upande wa drainage syokimau kiungani Road, grading ya barabara in the short term na Ka murrum kazuri. It might be more cost effective and less mental stress. Kisha help advocate for us tarmac.

Following the heavy flooding in parts of Syokimau and Kinanie in Athiriver Sub-County, my Government urges all affected families to voluntarily relocate to safer areas or to Kinanie Primary School which we have identified as temporary evacuation centre to those affected.

@Ali_Manzu GOK should use our housing levy contributions and construct roads for Syokimau residents... is it too much to ask...

@Rukomo2 @Ma3Route @KURAroads Some of us have been completely blocked from leaving our houses in any sort of transportation because of this. We have to walk to the neighborinh roads to catch a matatu or taxi. We are really suffering.
