Could you imagine the international uproar if Ukraine spent 15 hours sending 1500 missiles and drones into population centers all over Russia, mainly into apartment buildings, killing 15 people, including children? Russia just did this, and no one cares, especially the White House.

This repulsive hypocrisy is unbearable. Europe’s political leaders have become masters of moral posturing. After every massive Russian attack, they step in front of the cameras, speaking of "solidarity," "European values," and "unwavering support"—while simultaneously withholding precisely what their own words would demand: decisive, uncompromising, and immediate action. For years, European governments have claimed that Ukraine is defending Europe’s freedom. If they truly believed that, they would act like states facing a historic emergency—not like bureaucracies that talk every shipment, every sanction, and every strategic decision to death, delaying and diluting them in endless summits. You might be capable of running a town hall, but you certainly cannot lead a European nation in wartime. You are simply pathetic. While Ukrainian cities burn, Europe debates budgetary limits, opinion polls, and economic conveniences. While people die under a hail of missiles, European elites calculate domestic political risks and cling to the illusion that one can merely "manage" an imperial war of aggression without having to bear any sacrifices or consequences oneself. No, that is not possible. The truth is brutal: Europe possesses the industrial, economic, and military power to exert far greater pressure on Russia. It could radically ramp up weapons production, consistently seize Russian assets, enforce sanctions without loopholes, and deliver to Ukraine in a matter of months what currently takes years. Yet, what many governments lack is not the capability, but the courage. And that is precisely why their constant declarations have long since rung hollow. Anyone who "condemns in the strongest possible terms" every attack—yet continues to act slowly, hesitantly, or not at all—transforms moral language into a mere exercise in political self-absolution. Russia bombards Ukrainian cities with missiles. Europe’s leaders respond with press releases. That is the true declaration of bankruptcy. The bitterest truth, therefore, is this: It is not European rhetoric that is weak—but rather the discrepancy between words and deeds. And it is precisely this discrepancy that undermines Europe’s credibility far more than any Russian propaganda.
Emmanuel Macron@EmmanuelMacron

And all because of how humiliated Putin feels about how drastically he had to scale back his all-important Victory Day parade, and Zelenskyy giving him 'permission' to hold it, on top of it. No doubt this enraged Putin thoroughly. cbsnews.com/news/ukraine-r…

Should be read as an attempt to force these governments to persuade Ukraine not to strike — i.e. a desperate threat designed to allow Victory Day to proceed without humiliation. Russia nightly bombs Kyiv and doesn’t give a toss about foreigners or diplomatic staff living there.

Russia has told foreign governments and organisations to evacuate diplomatic staff and citizens from Kyiv, saying a retaliatory strike would be inevitable if Ukraine tried to attack Moscow during May 9 World War II Victory Day celebrations bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Today, Iran has a total of 11 tons of uranium, at various enrichment levels. "With further purification, that is enough to build up to 100 nuclear weapons....Virtually all of that cache accumulated in the years after Trump abandoned the Obama-era deal.” trib.al/GBy8nzC

György Wáberer, a prominent entrepreneur, claimed in an interview yesterday that he has been supporting TISZA for a year and a half, with a total of more than 100 million forints. After this came to my attention, I had it checked to verify what was true. As it turns out, five days before the election, he did transfer 5 × 20 million forints to TISZA’s account. Before that, to my knowledge, nothing. At TISZA, we are very proud that everything — including the party’s financing — has been, and continues to be, conducted legally and transparently. We are grateful that tens of thousands of our fellow Hungarians have supported us through our crowdfunding platform. We want to avoid even the appearance that any entrepreneur or oligarch, from either side, is tied to us, or that anyone might feel they can gain any advantage by invoking our name, even if only for self-promotion. Therefore, we will transfer the 5 × 20 million forints back to György Wáberer on Monday. In future, if anyone makes any legally or morally questionable request in exchange for their support, or if we see that they are trying to gain any kind of advantage, we will return their donation. Furthermore, within the legal deadline, we will account for all incoming donations and publicly disclose the names of those who have provided support exceeding 500,000 forints. Legality. Transparency. TISZA. Systemic political change.

NEW: In 2 months, Zelensky went from being first to back a U.S. Middle East operation to openly criticizing Trump’s foreign policy. Frustration is growing in Kyiv over U.S. messaging, weapons uncertainty, and broken promises, sources tell me. kyivindependent.com/ukraine-hits-l…

Mitch McConnell, who leads the Senate Defense spending panel and was at this meeting, now writes in the Washington Post: "Ukraine aid we passed months ago is now collecting dust at the Pentagon. When Senate appropriators have sought an explanation from the department’s policy shop, led by Undersecretary Elbridge Colby, they’ve been stonewalled. Our colleagues on armed services have also expressed growing frustration with the Defense Department’s inability to communicate."

New: In a meeting lawmakers yesterday evening, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said he didn't know why $400 million in previously appropriated funds for Ukraine hadn't been released yet. "I guess I'll look into it," said Hegseth, according to Betty McCollum, top Democrat on the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee. "That's not an answer to the Congress," said McCollum.
