One of life's great questions for me (as a loser who thinks about things like this) has been why Anthony Bourdain was so beloved, and why nobody else has come close. I've watched almost every travel/cooking show that tried to recreate his magic. They all annoy me — Somebody Feed Phil, Eugene Levy, Stanley Tucci, Eva Longoria. None of them has what he had. What made it work? This video shows the answer in under 3 minutes: youtube.com/watch?v=jSB53v… Bourdain does two things here that make it compelling. First, he takes a point of view. From the moment he calls something "old school," you see someone unafraid to be real. Second, he's vulnerable. He jokes that he's been "so good lately" he deserves a beer. In today's Hollywood, nobody's willing to be seen as anything but perfect. Everyone's a Girl Boss; no star wants to play a flawed character. But we connect with the imperfect. That's what Bourdain put on screen, and that's what made him so beloved. Have a great Friday. RIP Anthony.

Healthy gut, happy life. We launched something new today for a healthy microbiome. It's built around Akkermansia muciniphila, a keystone bacterium that decreases with age. The less of it you have, the worse your metabolic health tends to look. Akkermansia is one of the most interesting organisms in microbiome research. Why it matters + strengthens gut barrier integrity + is associated with glucose regulation, insulin sensitivity, and metabolic health + contains Amuc_1100, a surface protein studied for TLR2 signaling and gut barrier function We paired Akkermansia with butyrate triglycerides, a butyrate precursor that supports the gut lining directly, instead of relying on fiber fermentation to produce butyrate. Akkermansia for microbial signaling. Butyrate for epithelial support. A capsule within a liquid capsule to make it possible. I take one capsule daily. You can get yours at Blueprint Bryan Johnson.

@bryan_johnson Did you partner with pendulum? A.M. is incredibly difficult to manufacture and keep alive because it requires an anaerobic environment. . . Very expensive to set up...

It's also the fastest way to feel rich. If you only pay for food, rent, and a laptop, you don't need much income to have financial freedom. I lived on ~$1,000/month for 5 years. As soon as one of my startups made $1,000/month (2018), I was profitable. Most people try to earn more. I tried to need less.

Nothing I buy makes me happy. I find happiness in simple things: reading a book with a coffee, a hard workout, building apps, a walk with my wife. Money solved my money problems. I don't worry about next month's rent anymore. But everything that makes me genuinely happy costs little or nothing at all.

One of my lowest Resting Heart Rate tonight. What doesn’t impact (so far): ❌ last meal before bed ❌ C02 level ❌ magnesium ❌ watching movie What does impact: ✅ Night walk ✅ Reading just before bed ✅ Dim lights ✅ Temperature (impact+++) n=500 ish nights

@ElsewhereNotes Same here. In recent years, I went from searching for cheaper hotels in good locations to just going with the ones that cost more because it's a guarantee. Those are the things that make me feel the difference between having enough money to not worry about everyday problems

What defines you as rich nowadays? You make tons of money, but for what purpose? A lot of rich indie hackers around here seem to just not want to spend their money. Levesio said he spends only 3% per year of what he has invested. Marc has no clothes and doesn’t own a car or a house, from what I know. The only one is Tibo, who bought a chalet. I’m really wondering what’s the point of making more and more money if you don’t want to spend it.
Marc Lou@marclou

I own 3 shorts, 5 t-shirts, 2 socks, 5 undies, 1 sweater, 1 trouser, and 2 pairs of shoes. My wife owns just a little more than that. Our closet fits in a backpack. It's been a game-changer for travelling the world in the past 2 years.

@tonnoz I’d say that you don't need to be that rich for this kind of life. You can easily afford it with 10k per month (without taxes), probably even less. The hard part is “doing what I love for most of the day”

@stemonteduro its personal responsibility, i bought a house 3 years ago which has now doubled in price and the rental income covers rent for me to live anywhere in the world, a lamboghini aventador would have been a similar price but a very different lifestyle..

BREAKING: SpaceX has agreed to acquire Cursor, the world's fastest growing software startup, for $60 billion in an all stock deal. Cursor has over 1 million paying customers, more than $2 billion in annualized revenue, and is projected to hit $6 billion by end of 2026. At $60 billion, this is the largest software acquisition in history, paying 20 to 30 times Cursor's current revenue. The deal is subject to regulatory approval and expected to close in Q3 2026. SpaceX now owns the rockets, the satellites, the AI models, the chips, and is about to own the tool every developer on earth uses to write code.

My wife and I keep having the same conversation. It starts with one of us showing the other a stone farmhouse somewhere in rural Europe. It ends with the same question: why don't we own one yet? Owning doesn't mean living there full-time. That's the part people get wrong. A base you use four months a year changes your life more than an apartment you use twelve. So this time, instead of talking, I did the homework. 12 rural areas of Italy where you can buy a house with land, build a small farm, and still be an hour from a real city. Some are obvious names. Some you've never heard of. All of them are underpriced for what they are. Real places, picked on my own taste, from someone who's actually Italian. 🧵

Hot take: Everyone teaching AI agents to use Kanban boards is solving the wrong problem. The killer feature isn't a Kanban board. It's teaching the agent a persistent ROADMAP.md and TODO.md skill. Agents don't need project managers. They need memory.
