This is infinitely more important than Trump's threats to Iran. Trump told a Fox News reporter the U.S. armed protesters in Iran with "a lot of guns" back in January. This should radically change the narrative around those protests, including the "civilian" death toll.

Let's be clear at the outset: If Iran holds a US pilot, that person is a prisoner of war, not a "hostage." The terminology matters and we should insist that the media use the correct language for the situation.

I cannot imagine seeing these videos of ordinary Iranians in the countryside firing guns at the search-and-rescue teams high above them looking for the downed American pilot and still believing the country is going to welcome a US invasion, a US raid, whatever, with open arms.
