"It's different... but it's worth it." Elie Kligman is a catcher for the University of Michigan Baseball team, and he is the first Orthodox Jew to play Division I NCAA Baseball. In a recent feature on the team, Elie's coach and teammates describe working with Elie's observance of Shabbat, along with making sure they can provide kosher food when on the road. Despite the unique sitation, Elie is loved and embraced by his team, and is even one of their captains. ✡️💜

Like… 1. David what is the role of the front office in making lineups, dictating bullpen and bench usage on any given day. 2. David why is the organization so dedicated to righty-lefty matchups, to the extent of batting players places in the lineup opposite of what their unique skill sets would indicate - such as Slater in the 3-hole for example. 3. Also when you preach run prevention but then start a below average defender at 3B over Baty because he bats right-handed what goes into reconciling those two things? 4. David is it true you had Jeff Albert implement a biometric baseline approach with regard to hitting at every level of the organization including the DSL back during the 2024 season and can you explain what that is and why you are choosing to use it organization wide? 5. Do you worry at all that this focus on biometrics and analytics with regard to hitting, is counterintuitive to how hitters spend a lifetime honing their swings, getting a feel for those swings and could it cause hitters to feel uncomfortable or perhaps think too much at the plate?

Today and tomorrow are the days for the NY media to do their jobs and ask David Stearns tough questions (assuming he has the guts to have a press conference). He assembled a complete disaster despite having unlimited money. The @Mets were designed in his image and they’re the worst team in baseball. Every other press conference has been softball questions and today should be different. Aside from that, it is time for @StevenACohen2 to also address the media. Typically this isn’t the owner’s responsibility but he has placed himself in that position with his posts on X and his past public statements. Mets fans deserve so much better than for baseball to be over before Memorial Day and it’s time for the leaders to be held accountable.

I wasn't happy with a lot of David Stearns' moves this offseason, but I was optimistic on Opening Day. But what I thought, or what any of us thought, doesn't matter, because the results so far are vastly unacceptable. Stearns watched the 2024 Mets go to the NLCS and decided to redo the pitching staff for 2025. How did that work out? Then, he decided to redo the Mets lineup for the 2026 season. How's that working out? Whether you're an analytics person or not, you cannot defend this atrocity. Even if the #Mets were a .500 team right now, it would be unacceptable. It's far worse than that.
