@Mij8 @_CFTA Ha! It depends which way your boost runs, I suppose. It does sometimes feel like rehearsals hurry you towards your grave

“In the latest study, the middle-aged and older adults aged 40 or above received the biggest boost to the pace at which they aged as a result of taking part in the arts.” Follow @_CFTA, support better arts funding and soon we’ll all be toddlers again theguardian.com/science/2026/m…

@TRHLadyThalia No, life expectancy at birth was 35-40 years, however this average was massively skewed by infant mortality. If a person reached 21 then they could reasonably expect to live into their 50s and 60s.

Am I correct that it is unusual for these times for a woman to live to give birth at 31?

@nandtpolitics @annaperryparis @neetu_arnold A quick read of the article will show that the research took place in England (none of the other home nations took part) and the ‘s’ is included because the name Mathematics has been shortened to Maths. Only SI measurements remove ‘s’ eg ‘kg’

Turns out grouping kids by ability isn’t “symbolic violence”: “Teaching pupils in classes grouped by ability improves the results of high-flyers but does not affect the progress of less able children”

It’s time for another battle of the Royal houses. As nine houses are in the mix, two have been randomly assigned to a qualifying stage ahead of round 1. Who will make it through? The house of Wessex or their Norman conquerors?

I’m not sure why we still have a monarch. It seems like a medieval anachronism to me; a demonstration of inherited status and the the pinnacle of an entrenched aristocracy. And I’m really not sure why our monarch has gone to the US to stand next to another man with too much power, land and money.

@michelle_byoung I have also sometimes said to kids in school who tattle that if the thing you are telling me is your opinion ‘I think/don’t think…’ or doesn’t concern you ‘David is whistling’ then I don’t need to know from you. (Unless someone is getting hurt).

My autism spectrum kid is a real stickler about fairness & it can make for some AWKWARD social situations like when nobody actually wants to hear the REAL TRUTH or navigating being a tattletale, etc. I try to explain these nuances often in vain. Any tips? I don’t want to shame…

@norma49001 @SimonVelocity @choose_gaia I also don’t mean that as an insult either. I previously spent 20 years working as technical crew in theatre, a man’s world. I have become used to the way people talk to you when they consider you to be inferior.

@norma49001 @SimonVelocity @choose_gaia Oh I am not angry and I haven’t failed, neither have I delivered any insults. I just recognise when someone can’t appreciate someone’s worth, because they consider their worth to be greater.

@norma49001 @SimonVelocity @choose_gaia I am glad there are people who are prepared to do that job, I really am, however you seem convinced I am not required and should go back to my previous job. Perhaps I should, but maybe first we should check-in on some current teachers to see if having help is indeed helpful.

@RuthAtktweets @SimonVelocity @choose_gaia Tough and emotionally draining at times but rewarding and challenging which I liked. Teaching children you have probably read about in the press. Usually one to one and an assistant.

@norma49001 @SimonVelocity @choose_gaia My Mum was also teaching classes of 40 near Manchester in the 1960’s. She, however, recognised that one person couldn’t adequately do that alone, or at least that was her opinion.
