Every day, I grow more confident and less confident at the same time about Xabi Alonso joining Chelsea. Don’t ask me how this makes sense, because it doesn’t. All signs point towards the ball being in our court: - He’s open to the possibility - He wants to work in England - Liverpool are sticking with Slot - He’s our preferred option - Talks have been positive However, then you think of past negotiations that have fell through. Granted, these aren’t exactly the same, but Osimhen and Olise quickly come to mind. This is why I find myself wary. I’m just excited for this situation to be resolved and then we focus on the summer.

If Chelsea hire Xabi Alonso, will that be the best decision the new regime has made? In my opinion, yes. This next appointment is THAT important.
