Tony Gwynn was born on this date in 1960. An unparalleled hitter who K’d just 4.2% of the time, which is the 7th best rate in the last 100 years. Sadly he passed away 12 years ago…here’s his final career hit.

Rudy Gobert is an all-time great defender. To do this against one of the greatest offensive scorers we'll ever see is genuinely amazing. Somehow, at age 33, a 4-time DPOY is better than he's ever been. What a legend.

Utah Pig Bus
Utah Pig Bus@UtahPigBus·
Chris, I'd like to ask you a favor: can we begin putting this Utah Haterade stuff aside? I think it's time we let it flow like water under the bridge and start over. I’ll start. “Hi, I’m Welby, the Utah Pig Bus driver. Nice to meet everyone. We’re stoked to be here in the Big12 for our third year. If you’re visiting, come say hi and have a beer and bacon with us.” There will always be Utah fans who bait Big 12 fans with ridiculous posts, some who live in the past, and some who are kings of wishful thinking. They’re free to bait Big 12 fans if they want, but we are not those people. Utah is part of the Big 12, and we are not going anywhere, whether our fans or other fans like it or not. We are here for the long run. The vast majority of our fans, along with the administration, coaching staff, and players, are happy and excited to be here. It’s a tough league, and we genuinely love being part of it. We’re here to stay. I think it would be best for everyone in this league to support each other and leave the past behind. Our collective success depends on each program competing at a high level. We bring a strong résumé and program to this league, just as many others do. I’m not asking you to love our school or program, but we’d appreciate it if you’d tone down the negativity. We love Utah, and seeing constant bashing is deflating. Utah fans don’t spend all day thinking of ways to insult you, your team, or your program. I understand there will always be Big 12 accounts that remain toxic toward us, but those are the exception, not the rule. As a matter of fact, there will be several responses to this post that will prove it. Every Big 12 fan I’ve met in real life has been incredibly awesome in both wins and losses. Frankly, I think the Big 12 has some of the nicest fans in college football. You’re not accomplishing anything by posting toxic responses to toxic responses. All it does is spread negativity. Ragging on Utah and our fans on Twitter doesn’t reflect real life. I can attest that most fans we’ve met in person have had great experiences with us. If you want proof, come visit us in November. I understand it’s easy to get frustrated by ridiculous posts from some Utah fans. They do not represent the majority of the fanbase. We’ve moved on from the past and embraced where we are. Sure, in the beginning it was a fun shtick. I should know; I started a lot of it. And yes, it was a bad way to enter this league. I was wrong, and it was stupid. I’ve changed my ways, and I ask others to give this a second chance. In today’s college football environment, even a shtick doesn’t help anyone. If this league wants to thrive in the dog-eat-dog world of modern college football, we need to stick together. We are here, we love it here, and we want to win. You’re a great fan of WVU and an even better human being, so let’s get to know each other’s teams instead of throwing rocks at one another. And as a fun fact, my wife's family is from West Virginia, she's a Hatfield, and the entire clan are real Mountaineers who live in hollers. I've driven those country roads many times. Have a great Sunday. Go Utes!
Christopher Lambert@CFB_Signals

I figured out the origin of Ute fan’s undeserved hubris. Utah caught a wave of the PAC 12’s marquee brands suffering through a bought of mediocrity. They believed the causation of their success was Ute dominance rather than a down cycle from Oregon etc.

"...the Jazz removed two of the team's top players...before the beginning of the 4Q and did not return them to the game" 1) Ok so if Will Hardy sits Markkanen the entire 3Q and plays him in the 4Q instead, is that acceptable? 2) They won that Heat game! 3) They won that Heat game because Brice Sensabaugh is nails and came through with several big shots. Is he not permitted to be the focal point of an offense without the presence of 'stars' on the floor concurrently? I have more questions now than before they addressed/penalized this.

Utah's private equity play could work b/c campus-specific circumstances. What about PE for other schools? @NVGTInsights founder AJ Maestas joined 'Canzano & Wilner' with @johncanzanobft to discuss that and more (e.g., realignment) Full epi: tinyurl.com/cjxrhw38
