@CliftonSellers Yeah my daughter is 8 years away and I’m not worried about this at all. I don’t have a crystal ball. Let’s wait until about junior year of high school to think about this.

@FranVezz I have the same thing automatically built into my spreadsheet that determines position sizing. If my equity curve is above its own 10/20 rising moving averages, pedal to the metal. If it’s below 10/20 declining moving averages, very low risk. Anything else, medium risk.

@TomLambos I am very algorithmic in my trading and find that super tight stops choke off the necessary room stocks need to develop. Even low of day is frequently too tight I’ve found.

Just my thoughts on a popularized approach of not carrying a stock overnight if it’s a little underwater-yet still above your hard stop. Personally I’d never use a blanket “if I’m not green by the close, I’m out” rule if my hard stop (usually low of entry day) is still intact. As a swing trader, part of the game is accepting some overnight risk. Just because a stock closes slightly below my entry on day one doesn’t automatically mean the trade is wrong or the stock is acting poorly. Sometimes the entry was just a little early, and sometimes that’s simply normal price action. It feels more emotional than rule-based to me. A stock can-and often does close slightly red on day one, then go on for a huge move after. IMO, a time stop makes more sense. If it chops around and acts unconstructive for a few days, reallocating elsewhere is fair. I get the whole “good horses are fast out of the gate” idea, and yes there’s truth to it, but I don’t think it should always be taken that literally. Not every entry will be perfect, and not every winner launches immediately. At the end of the day, my hard stop is what supersedes everything-not whether I’m slightly red after only one session. To each their own, but after considering and monitoring this rule, I’m not convinced there’s a long-term edge in it.

@ohiain I feel like you’re speaking to me lately. Great content. Started to post a bit more about my trading since that post of yours about putting yourself out there in the community. Gonna give it a shot. 🫡

The fastest way to destroy your own conviction is to follow hundreds of people on X and/or consume thousands of conflicting opinions every single day. I used to do the same thing until I realized my confidence completely disappeared the second the market got volatile and conditions changed. Now I keep my circle extremely small and mainly follow people who share genuine value, transparency, and process...not nonstop P&L screenshots and people calling for tops n' bottoms 5 times a week. Clean up your timeline, protect your focus, and spend more time building trust in your own eyes instead of borrowing conviction from strangers online. Thank me in 1 year.

Billionaires don’t steal my money, dipshit. Politicians and bureaucrats do. If a billionaire gets my money, it’s because I paid for a product that he or she has made.

I can’t stress this enough if you want to maximize profits trading this environment . . . Turn off the news or at least don’t hold an opinion of the market based on it. Trade price. Seems obvious but you’d be surprised how many people just can’t do it.

Many traders would benefit from writing more. You don’t need to turn it into an art form, just use it as a tool to gain more clarity into the markets, your edge and yourself. Writing naturally forces you to slow down and look inward. It naturally lends itself towards going into more depth. It’s a natural record-keeper, showing undeniable proof of your growth while making it easy to find further areas for improvement. And when you write in public, it also keeps you accountable. It’s been a privilege to do so on TTRH for 3 years today. I never dreamt what started as a side project would grow the way it has. And I never imagined I’d meet so many inspirational people along the way, never mind collaborate with them. What a journey. Thank you for joining me on it.
