No jokes on this one so please scroll on by if that’s what you are looking for: So Trump did exactly what he said he was going to do for defunding the Dept of Education, AIPAC, climate change initiatives, EPA, hiring freeze, etc … so not one person should be surprised about all of those. I do however have a huge problem with OSHA being defunded. It is 100% not like the others, as it saves American lives directly. I’ll tell you exactly why: I have a family member that started a business when I was a kid doing respirator mask fit tests. His job was to go to fire departments, industrial paint or chemical warehouses, or anywhere that workers used respirator masks. OSHA required that each one of these workers passed the “fit test” each year. There were many size masks and straps and ways to make it fit correctly. During summers, I would go with him to make extra money and hang out with fire fighters while they got their tests done. I watched them touch their toes, grimace, count, move their head side to side… all while hooked up to a machine and computer to see how much leakage there was. These scores were sent to OSHA from private contractors like my family member. Prices were only as high as the bids, as there was competition to get contracts. OSHA requires safety standards for sooo many more things than just masks. If this is defunded, people will die because companies will not pay to test or stay in compliance. This is plain profit over human life.
