Many Brits have been begging the US to stop the nonsense of the handover to Mauritius and it has just been waved through by the State dept. The US has treaty rights to demand UK maintains sovereignty. If the handover had already occurred, US would have had to give pre-notice of attack on Iran to China-ally Mauritius.
