I never really got the allure of Starbucks anyway but If you want expense coffee in Montreal there’s no end of local Indy spots.

The Gazette found at least 30 Starbucks locations in Greater Montreal have closed in the last 10 years, outpacing the opening of new locations. Coffee-aficionados go to their third wave spot. Those price sensitive may go to McDonalds or Tim’s. What’s left? Some Montrealers, sure, and maybe your international student more willing (and used to?) paying 8$ for a coffee. Worse still for Starbs, and similar to the UK with Gales bakery, Montreal’s super successful third wave & Italian local chains squeeze it even more. So that international student goes to Starbucks until they find the Olympico or Myriade around the block and get that Montreal experience their pals back home can’t get. @leoraschertzer

@MatrixMysteries This is known to economists as an externality. It costs me nothing to make it more dangerous to other drivers but it improves my life slightly because I can see better. The cost of these ultra bright light is SOLELY born by the other party so I am encouraged to buy them.

A Mount Sinai scientist says the new headlights being used in America are dangerous.
Older headlights were softer and easier on the eyes.
Now drivers are getting blasted with harsh bluish-white glare every night.
This is the result of corporate greed in America.

One time my fiancee watched Good Will Hunting and was like 'why did you say it's bad, it's fun and teaches kids good values' and I was like 'it's not actually a kids' film it was an acclaimed serious drama' and she basically didn't believe me

There’s nothing that ontologically prevents AI art from being art imo, but 90% of ‘AI art’ is total dogshit because it turns out having to learn artistry was a good filter for having anything worthwhile to say
