@abrahamcho What do you think of the wholistic gospel/integral mission language by people like Stott & Padilla?

Trying to pull together some thoughts that have been rattling around in my head. In particular, trying to highlight the crucial formative role that a genuinely upside-down, power-inverting, margin-centering community (i.e. the church) has for our vision of the gospel. Thoughts?

So, my allegiance is with the King of love, the King who emptied himself for me, the King who will overthrow all systemic injustice that stands against his kingdom, the King who beckons us to follow, the King who always shows up! 4/4 #MerryChristmas

His gospel message & mission are holistic & nuanced & its amazing. His mission holds together what political theory separates, it’s word & deed, personal salvation & societal change, individual & corporate. 3/4 #MerryChristmas

Despite how the people co-opt Jesus & invoke his name for personal gain ‘He made himself nothing’ (Phill 2.7). The fact that he came as vulnerable baby, lived as an oppressed person & emptied himself of power to establish a kingdom is incredible to me. 2/4 #MerryChristmas

Christmas elicits a response. It’s about how Jesus came for us. That draws out a response. This year my faith has deepened & feels more robust than it’s ever been. Perhaps I’m seeing more clearly what sets him apart. 1/4 #MerryChristmas
