@TharriesYT Depends what you mean by ‘lead to’ tbh. 14 and the 60th was fine, Billie’s involvement was the result of a very separate production situation, and fans will always have fan brained ideas regardless of what the show actually does, writers can’t not do something on that basis

I was a defender of the 14th doctor because it was an anniversary & I think they did some interesting stuff with it but if you were to tell me years later that would lead to Billie Piper & fans seriously suggesting Paul McGann Matt Smith etc I probably would’ve reconsidered it.

@DoctorWhoPN No there isn’t. When there is, good or bad, the DW team and/or the BBC will tell us through official channels. We just need to wait. This is the 3rd/4th go round in the last 12mths of the whole ‘no one wants to play the doctor’ BS, and it has little bearing on xmas26 production

The Doctor Who Christmas special cancelation rumor is getting more intense with the BBC not responding to a Radio Times inquiry.

@SimonCo43408352 @DoctorWhoPN The RT isn’t, but their article is solely based on hearsay by media outlets that are e.g. The Sun. They aren’t privy to any more information on the special, they’re just spreading rumours from a very questionable source, which is disappointing but the way it is now

@Ryan_PS98 @DoctorWhoPN The Radio Times is not a tabloid rag, and the BBC have happily given them statements many times in the past.

@LibraryPlayer @DoctorWhoPN Exactly. This whole situation is extremely complicated, but why let that get in the way of a good moan up and doom-monger (not by OP but by the papers and broader scaremongering within fandom in the last 24hrs since The Sun article surfaced)

@Who_News Absolute nonsense of an article justifying most of its vitriol through a production inside line from… The Sun 🙄

Doctor Who is struggling to fill the Tardis – one man is to blame: Doctor Who’s 2026 Christmas special is reportedly in doubt (Picture: James Pardon/Bad Wolf/BBC Studios) It feels like some time ago when Ncuti Gatwa’s run as the Fifteenth Doctor came to… metro.co.uk/2026/05/26/doc…

@WhovianLife The original ‘source’ is The Sun you don’t need to worry. September filming has been accepted for a while now and has happened before. The article doesn’t even make sense as they wouldn’t postpone the special to cast 16 as they’ll only appear at the end anyway, it’s nonsense

Roy Keane, Scholes, Neville.. no thought about United. They’re more interested in boosting the overlap and whatever podcasts they’re involved in. Definition of toxic.

@WilliamWho27 It’s why I find a lot of the discourse about RTD2 frustrating. How can you enjoy up to 75% of something, but then the prevailing feeling is that it was all bad. But that is where we’re at. The last episode we’ve got being the messy one and the production limbo make it worse imo

@WilliamWho27 I think mixed is a fair reflection, but very different to ‘mostly negative’. Again, I’m not trying to pick semantic holes, you’re one of the more reasonable people on here, but it’s an interesting case study of how even enjoying the majority of it ‘negative’ is the takeaway

It’s a hard one because I love the show so much, & it’s such a big part of my life. But at the same time there’s no denying I’m mostly negative about the current show & I haven’t fully loved the show since Series 10. I do question when/if I should stop watching the current show.
mia@miadoctorwho

I think most current doctor who fans are stuck with the show for life because if The Giggle, Empire Of Death, Interstellar Song Contest and The Reality War won’t make you stop watching the show then nothing can be bad enough to make you quit.

@NotAgnor @Alex_bristol87 With that ending and zero character arc to the 15th Doctor, among other things? Nah, it’s not good. It does have some good episodes but that doesn’t make a good whole. It is so far away in quality from 12 and even 13’s era.

Just to explain to Doctor Who fans how comedy works: Nothing Ncuti Gatwa says on #SNLUK tonight will be some secret dig at Doctor Who or Russell T Davies. They are just jokes. It's pretend

If Labour MPs detonate this government, the calls for an early general election will be immediate. Reform will claim that whoever succeeds Starmer will be illegitimate, because they didn’t win the election. The media will hound them, as relentlessly as they have Starmer, and the cycle continues. This all plays into Reform’s hands. It’s exactly what they want.

All Labour MPs should be looking at this very carefully. Potential leadership contenders who reckon that more borrowing and/or (even more) growth unfriendly policies on tax, spend and regulation are the way forward should reflect on it even more carefully.
