Haven't posted in years, but today feels like a good day to change that After a two year break from working in crypto, I joined Gemini a day before the US election last year and have been working to get to this moment ever since Grateful for the opportunity to work alongside this team every day and inspired by how far our industry has come Onward and Upward!

100 MILE SUMMARY: I started running on Saturday at 10:30AM, and stopped moving on Sunday 3:35PM. 100 Miles, 29 Hours 82mi ran, 18mi walked (17:30 avg pace) I don't think runs/races should be celebrated much. I don't believe in medals. But I believe in pride- and I'm proud of this training effort. Also- a quick preface: I am not an influencer. I am not a pro athlete. I am not a self-help writer. Nothing I do is recommended as advice (I would not recommend the way I ran this). I am simply trying to tell a story of Obsession with my life, and be an example of it. This weekend, and this month- that includes a lot of running. But the past 3mo, and for the rest of this year + beyond, that will be my new running app Aura (currently in beta). Why do this: - Training for BPN backyard ultra/last man standing in 3 weeks (May 24th). 4.2 mi loop every hour. Last runner wins. - I've been working so much the last 2-3 months on Aura, I haven't been training as much I would otherwise (still doing ~50 mile weeks w/ elevation). But I'd do way more if I wasn't pulling such insane hours on the app. - I believe in doing extreme things casually. I knew I had to train hard this weekend- 3 weeks out from the race. But really I committed to this 100mi/24hr run the day before. - I sort-of simulated a backyard ultra for about 1/3 of this (4.2 mi every hour). But didn't use a basecamp, so eventually had to adjust w/ bathrooms, food etc. while running around Manhattan. Prep: - None really. If anything I did the opposite and made it harder, which is great for training. This week I ran 45 mi, Monday 17mi w/ 2400 ft. I didn't sleep Wednesday night on a red-eye flight back to NY. And barely the night prior to this. I grabbed new shoes, gels, etc. from stores the day before. I've ran many marathon distances, and a few ultras (max 50mi last summer), so have a sense on basic needs. But I wasn't fully prepped with a good nutrition plan. Run summary: Miles 1-40: Great. Going about 10:00-11:30/mile for the 4.2mi, with ~10 min rest every hour. It was VERY hot (80 deg). To be honest- I felt the fatigue from the week of travel/training/lack of sleep on mile 10. But still these miles were fine. Did full loop of manhattan, stopped at basecamp at the end. Mile 40-55: Fine, albeit a little slower. Legs starting to feel heavy. Fueling on bodegas now, less gels. Mile 55: Peeing what looked like light blood. Really a tea/cola -ish color- but definitely not just yellow. Some pain in one testicle. Early rhabdo sign- probably from too much salt w/o enough water. No other symptoms. Thought I was done there. I know rhabdo means straihgt to hospital. But I called some friends who do ultras all the time. Got advice to chug straight water. I did. And pee cleared right up. But I genuinely thought I was done there. Everyone initially said if I was peeing that, I should probably stop. Mile 55-68: Great. Happiness from pee clearing up and being able to continue. Good paces down to 10:30-9:30/mile paces. Mile 68-82: At 68- stopped at basecamp for first time since mile 40ish. Took first proper 20min break at basecamp. Changed clothes. Took off my Salomon vest (10lb I was wearign the whole time). And felt wrecked after. Jogged through 68-82, got through the miles. But shuffling. Could barely move. Needed long (10-15min) rest b/w. Mile 82-100: Decided to walk. Running w/ a break was slower than walking. And knew I'd cause serious damage to my legs/knees. Walk was harder than the run. Walking pace was 25:00/mile, which meant I had 9 hours to walk, after running for 20 hours. Not a great feeling. Every step hurt. Had to poop every 30 minutes, which only added to the discomfort. Last 4ish miles of walking were unbelievably terrible and slow. I walked through midtown /5th ave. Very unique experience. Overall- this was a massive confidence boost for the last man standing on 5/24. I had so much working against me here, compared to what conditions will be there (with basecamp every 4.2mi). Still did well considering. Very excited to race. Body right now: Fine. Lower back is a bit fucked. Left knee sore. Head is tired. But legs feel surprisingly good. The slow pace helped a lot, and not running any further. Excited to race May 24th in Austin. PS if you've read this far: The two photos w/ stats here were made with my app Aura. If you'd like access to the beta before we go live this month.. Reply on this post 'thank you batman' and I will DM you an invite.

@fintechfrank Q: how would you respond to critics about Alameda and FTX conflict of interest A: “yeah, I mean, I think, you know, part of this is, I mean, honestly, part of it is like, you know.”

@fintechfrank wasn't just Su. When FTX first came onto the scene from Alameda in 2019 there was early skepticism in the industry about the relationship between the two and if FTX was just a way to help 'salvage' Alameda ~Reported by The Block Aug 2019 theblock.co/post/35056/ins…

@AviFelman Good call, looks like Silvergate in clear on credit side, exposure is limited to <10% of its deposits

@AviFelman Still, Sep 30th a cycle ago in this market and the press release yesterday did nothing to size the expected exposure to FTX so everyone assumes the worst

) IMO Silvergate rumors are FUD… The issues around Silvergate are: (1) BTC prices below 16k puts their BTC collateralized loan book under stress; (2) the President and Chief Risk Officer of Silvergate stepped down over the last 48 hours. Both of these claims are false

@DavidFBailey @AviFelman yeah even if the commercial real estate book -- which is "primarily focused on investor properties that are owned by customers with a current banking relationship" -- has any exposure to FTX Bahamian mortgages it still is a relatively small hit to the rest of book

@EconomPic @cullenroche in terms of risk of performing loans in either bull/bear market, credit risk is reduced by way of using crypto as a form of collateral. don't have to repossess like auto or home secured credit, and can liquidate 24/7 in deep global liquid markets if need be
