@ellielexx If it's already a tried and effective treatment (even if it's just to give more time and not to cure) then no I suppose there doesn't need to be a placebo. These are very hard decisions to make. But yes I think you're right in this case.

Maybe I’ve got this wrong, and if I have, I want to understand. I’ve learned something today that has stopped me in my tracks. A mum reached out to me about her daughter with DMG, on the ACTION trial. It’s thought there are three trial arms, including the possibility of placebo

@peter_levy I'm surprised at the negative response to the plane spotters. I'm not one of them but I like to see them on the A15. They bring a little excitement to the area. The speed limit of 30mph doesn't hurt anyone.

@SAJohnsonCrane No. Although omnivores, the rat's preference is grain, so it's bird food which attracts rats, not cat food, don't worry.😁There's a few thousand people here who can put your mind at ease.

The lovely man who found and brought in the two maggoty babies has been searching and he found another baby. This poor little boy doesn't have injuries, but again all his orifices were teeming with maggots. He also has pneumonia. As you can see, this poor darling baby is starved, absolutely emaciated. Like all babies, hoglets should be chubby, with a nice rounded tummy. And notice how white his lips and gums are, as he's in shock. Please, please put out some food and water at night. Just dry kitten food which has meat listed as the first ingredient. These poor babies (and their mums) are out there, cold and dying of starvation. You could be a lifesaver. It took a while for me to revive and stabilise this poor boy, and rid him of all the maggots. But now he's joined his sister at @pricklelodge, where he'll be nursed back to health. He's been named Ryder.

Do you know what these pictures are of? These are pictures of you walking past litter in the street and tutting, then going home to sweep up and burn all the leaves so your lawn looks tidy. These are pictures of you complaining to the council that they haven't cut the grass or the stinging nettles growing alongside the path you use to walk your children to school. These pictures are the results of our casual disregard for all lives except our own. The first picture is a bird's eye view of the nest a pregnant hedgehog made and had her precious babies in. It's squashed in between the wall and the aircon unit at the back of a pub. It's made of plastic bags and food wrappers. The long grasses and spent foliage it should have been made of were cut down and dumped, because they looked messy. With no uncut verges, no hedges, no welcoming wild corner of a garden, nowhere left natural, everything cut, strimmed, tidied, controlled, this was the only undisturbed place this poor little hedgehog could find to have her babies. The second picture is a nest found under a waste container, made of rubble and litter. All this poor mum could manage to gather together to bear her babies. Not quite the soft hay nest you imagine, is it? Not the start in life that these vulnerable, delicate little babies deserve, is it? Sadly, this is the reality; this is what happens when you sweep up the leaves and cut down the dead plants, in your autumn 'tidy up'. Nature is wonderful - it provides natural bedding just when it's needed. Now, for the late babies, and for the hedgehogs starting to build the hibernation nests that will keep them alive through the winter. Please, I beg you, leave some of your garden natural. Leave the dead foliage, the dried out plant stems. If you have to cut the lawn, leave the edges for wildlife. And most of all, leave the leaves where they lay. Clearing them may give you a few moments of pleasure, but you are ripping the blankets out from babies' beds. You are leaving hedgehogs to struggle through winter huddled in food wrappers. So when you feel the urge to 'tidy up' the garden for winter, please remember how these images made you cry, how much you wanted to do more for these poor animals. Then sit back, because it'll all be there in the spring, but it will have done its job by then, and so will you.🥰

@ellielexx @GrannyCahill I'm so glad you keep coming back and talking about your son, not only keeping his memory alive but also spreading awareness of the disease, which I hadn't even heard of before. I wouldn't even know about Abby's army if it weren't for you. You're doing important work.

To the troll that tweeted me, “Dude, give it up,”—I will never stop talking about my son or what happened to him. Remembering Billy will never be something that passes, and whether I want it or not, raising awareness for DIPG brain tumours is my mission, 🧵

@Kusac_UK @richardosman I don't know Bulgarian but in Czech and Slovak there isn't a word for "miss' in this context. So it would be the same "the bullet which didn't hit" and they're all similar languages.

@richardosman Interesting. Does Bulgarian not have a verb “to miss”? Direct translation seems to be “The bullet, that didn’t hit”.

@CBeebiesHQ can someone please confirm that the removal of Numbersongs from the iPlayer is only temporary? I don't think I can live a full life without these absolute bangers. Bring back Numbersongs!

I disagree with a lot of what I read, that's life. It doesn't make me or the author better or worse than anyone else. Having a different opinion to someone, but still respecting them and acting with decency is an entirely logical position. Have a good weekend all!

@Vicster82 I've heard it on cbeebies but I always assumed it was so that kids without mums don't feel bad. Some kids are brought up by grandparents or other family members so it's not always right to say "go ask your mum" I totally get that.

I am female, I carried my children for 9 months , I am their Mum and I want to be addressed as such. What on Earth is this ‘grown up’ nonsense all about? We have given far too much power to people who want to erode the entire concept of family. I am sick of it.

Ketchup in cupboard but once opened in the fridge. Eggs fridge - there's a special shelf for them. Chocolate cupboard. Bread goes moldy easily when left in the bread bin or a cupboard.
