#cervicalcheck After 5 1/2 years, my case against @HSELive & Quest Diagnostics have been settled in the High Court today for damages & costs. It has been a very long and stressful process - the culture and misogyny I have experienced has been very difficult to deal with

For anyone out there going through a tough time... Take a look at these two €20 notes. The one on the left has been through the wars, crumpled, stained, and a bit of a mess. The one on the right is straight, crisp, and untouched; it looks "perfect." Ask yourself this: Is the crumpled note worth any less than the pristine one? The answer is no. Don’t let anyone put you down just because you’ve survived a rough season or need a little extra support right now. Your "creases" don't define your worth. We are all equal. We are unique and different in our own ways, but we are all living, breathing human beings. Our value doesn't fluctuate based on our circumstances. You are worth just as much today as you were on your best day. We all MATTER. Don’t let anyone,.or any situation ever make you think otherwise. 💜 #Equal #YouMatter #YouAreEnough

It is the lack of accountability for those at the top of public & civil service which permits these cases to repeat again & again. Why can't people be accountable for their decisions? Look at how #Whistleblowers are treated & no one has ever been held accountable @OCallaghanJim

Today Katie came into me and sobbed her heart out because she has had to defer college for September. I cannot even put into words what that felt like as her mam. At 19 years of age, Katie should be excited for her future. She should be getting ready for college, making plans, looking forward to the next chapter of her life like every other young person her age. Instead, her life is being put on hold because she is in pain, because her body is getting worse, and because I still cannot raise the money needed to get her to Florida for the surgery that could change her life. A while later, she posted a video on TikTok, and I honestly felt my heart break all over again. Because behind every update, every video, every post, there is a real young girl watching her future slip further away while we fight and beg for help. And tonight I feel broken. I feel like the worst mam in the world because no matter how hard I try, no matter how much I beg, post, fundraise, sell, share, email and fight, I still cannot get Katie what she needs. Watching your child cry because she has had to give up college is a pain I would not wish on any parent. She should not have to put her dreams on hold because of money. She should not have to watch her friends move on while she is left behind through no fault of her own. All I want is to get my daughter to Florida for her surgery. That is it. Not a luxury. Not something extra. Just the surgery she desperately needs so she can have a chance at a life with less pain, more freedom, and some hope of getting her future back. So tonight I am begging. Please, please help me get Katie to Florida. If you can donate, please donate. If you cannot, please share this post. Share her story. Share her videos. Tell people about her. Help me reach someone who can help. Because right now I am a mother watching her daughter’s world get smaller and smaller, and I am begging the public to help me change that before it is too late. Please help me save Katie’s future. gofund.me/fbc3eeea6

While I naturally sympathise with anyone who says they couldn’t make appointments/treatment or access care due to the protests, I do find it incredibly hypocritical to hear our ‘health leaders’ talk about ‘unacceptable patient risk’. I feel the need to remind them that parents of children with Spina Bifida and scoliosis have been telling them for *years* about concerns around their care. We told them they were at risk of harm. We repeatedly asked for it to be investigated and it took years, unnecessary death and public protest to get them to show any real level of concern. This meeting to me was a tactic to condemn protestors rather than it actually being genuine concern for issues accessing healthcare.

So disingenuous of @SimonHarrisTD didn’t tell the truth of his knowledge about #CervicalCheck result delays for 4,088 women resulting in the MacCraith report - my case settled few days before High Court case and him having to give evidence & cancelled our meeting on legal advice

Today we have to travel to Dublin and stay overnight because Katie’s appointment in Cappagh is on Monday at 7am. Katie has to have an MRI arthrogram, which in simple terms is an MRI with dye injected into her hip. The heartbreaking part is that we already know the damage. Dr Paley at the Paley Institute has already confirmed that Katie’s hip is 60% dysplastic and that she has a labral tear in her hip socket. So this journey is not about answers we do not already have. It feels like another painful trip, another hurdle, and another box being ticked while Katie continues to suffer. Katie has to travel again in pain when there are perfectly good hospitals in Cork. If she had been operated on when she was 4, she would not be suffering the way she is now at 19. That is the part that breaks me. The years that should have helped her have instead led to more pain, more damage, and more heartbreak. And still we keep going. Still we keep fighting. Because we truly believe Dr Paley is the surgeon who can do the right surgery for Katie, and our only hope of getting her to him in Florida is through the kindness of the people of Ireland and beyond. We are only able to make this journey because of the help of so many truck drivers, and I will never forget that kindness. Today we travel, we stay over, and on Monday morning my daughter faces yet another appointment that no 19-year-old should have to endure. As her mam, all I want is to see her out of pain. All I want is the chance for her to have the future she deserves. Please keep Katie in your thoughts over the next two days. And please keep sharing her story. Every share, every donation, and every act of kindness is helping us keep going. gofund.me/ad9940ae1

Simon Harris is today worried about cancer patients because it suits him to use them as a stick to beat protesters. He didn't care about the women caught up in the Cervical check scandal when he lied to them about never having to go to court for compensation. Several women with terminal cancer had to go to court with only months to live. He is a horrible individual and should never be in a position of power.

. @SimonHarrisTD, I can share my journey with cancer, starting from my diagnosis at 13 years old. I can share how I was failed & why I will die prematurely due to a lack of proper care. Do you care? I don’t think so. Trying to raise concern now isn't genuine, it’s shameful

After 17 years, the family of Maria Fitzpatrick has finally received an apology and vindication. Maria died at just 36 from undiagnosed cervical cancer, leaving behind her husband Kevin and four young sons. The tragedy was compounded years later when her son Darren, who never fully recovered from the loss of his "mammy," died by suicide at 19. Despite a grueling legal battle that Kevin describes as "re-traumatising," the family has finally seen the HSE and Portiuncula University Hospital acknowledge the "missed opportunity" that cost Maria her life. They spent nearly two decades battling a cold bureaucratic system that forced them to rehash their trauma through endless reports and court dates, only to receive a letter of apology that wasn't even read aloud by the state. "A piece of paper doesn’t bring back a mother... but we got the vindication for Maria." #JusticeForMaria #CervicalCheck #HSE #Apology independent.ie/irish-news/wer…

Another innocent child whose life was lost to the failings of our health service and government. Another child whose life wasn’t what it should have been due to sitting and deteriorating on a list. Another family left incomplete. Another home broken. Another family fighting for justice. I’m so sorry, beautiful Chloe deserved so much better.
