I have been giving away baseball cards from my personal collection for all 23 years that I have held sports camps. Last year, I gave away over 15,000 cards to kids from my personal collection of 50 plus years. I know many of you today only want to keep your cards of value when you open boxes. I don’t understand some of these travel ball coaches. They get in a tournament and then want to quit after a bracket win because they are out of pitching…Do a better job of building your team!!! Quit trying to coddle your players. Send them out to compete, even if it means having to pitch a non-pitcher. Teach them that it’s ok to face adversity, and to fight as a group. It builds character. Don’t be afraid to take an L! Are you a true national team, or are you a pretty good team bc you have 1 elite pitcher?!

If you turned 9 years old in the summer of 1964 life was not bad. You could talk Mom into driving you to the Kannapolis Newsstand and for 2 quarters and a few pennies for tax you could buy Street & Smith Pro Football or 4 Marvel comics. The comics are worth much more in 2026.
