As educators, it is important for us to concider the multiple intelligences of our students. Worth concidering these different intelligences when crafting assessments for students. #CIT602

A good history of how we got into this copyright mess, if anyone is interested. Great for starting discussions in the classroom. #CIT602

A scathing indictment of the current state of copyright. With this many lawyers involved you start to realize it's not about protecting intellectual property and encouraging creativity, it's all about the dollars. #CIT602

It is difficult to imagine what life was like before assistive technology. This video is evidence to the power of technology to transform lives, and by extension, societies. Is my cellphone assistive technology? It's not just tech for sped. #CIT602

I of course am familiar with various word processors, I was not aware of the number of programs that are designed for brainstorming. Absolutely a technology I want more of in my ELA classroom. #CIT602
@Jennife54613932 You are certainly not the only one anxious about copyright law. As we move into a more "sharing" based culture (where remixing is appreciated) I wonder if these laws, or our attitudes about them, will change. #CIT602
Have to say reading copyright articles has made me nervous; a million ways to “bleep” up! Such as reusing a lesson for a following year, apparently a no/no. And copy/post url, but NOT with a description. Huh?!#cit602

A fanastic example of saying a lot in a small space. If it isn't practical, it shouldn't be in education. Anytime our kids use higher thinking skills voluntarily we need to be humble enough to "clue in" to opportunity. #CIT602
@takahashistofu@unlvpg Weird. It works fine today. Maybe maitenance? Something teachers need to concider given the inclusion of technology; bugs and other tech issues.
@andresunlv@unlvpg I earned a C in coding in high school. I was surprised how Scratch made programing accessible without reducing the logic skills required. I can see Scratch taking the place of Legos for creative kids just looking to break stuff to put back together. #CIT602
Accessing the Site Scratch, was an incredible experience as I have had little to no experience with coding. There were several games and mazes to explore prior to creating my own and the 'tips' section provided a phenomenal set of instructions that can be printed. @unlvpg#cit602
My school runs a pseudo-club program called FLEX. I am certainly proposing a Novlet Flex. abahgat.com/project/novlet/ Not only does this program lend itself to lessons on literary elements, but in connecting to other people through story. #CIT602
@andresunlv@BaldomeroCoron3@ThomasR09152848@unlvpg It's important to remember that taking a scantron test, and putting it on Kahoots is not, to me, a useful transition. If computers are going to be a central part of education, we need to change our schools to adapt to the tech. #CIT602
@BaldomeroCoron3@ThomasR09152848@unlvpg Being able to create your own content is a fantastic way to avoid being pigeon holed into the same worksheets year after year. Websites like Kahoot and Quizzlet can also integrate technology into it while also making it interactive. #cit602@unlvpg
"all kids should learn a second language." That is not an argument for restructuring a stable education system. What class in Jr. High and High School should be cut to make room for coding class? #CIT602

This video from code.org unsettled me. It's scripted much like propaganda. I would like to know how kids of different ages react to this video. It's easy to say "all kids should code" like "all kids should play an instrument" and...
The internment game,by username tfickle, is incomplete, but demonstrates the game's efficacy. Good news, students can BUILD their own games. I see using this tool to either support learning through interactive experiences, but also for students to demonstrate their knowledge.
I have used roleplaying games in my classroom before. I'm an old gamer. That's why I loved the text adventures offered by textadventures.co.uk. In particular the Japanese American internment camp adventure has real potential to be used in any WW2 unit.
@ThomasR09152848 I feel like we as teachers need a "frequent concerns" checklist for UDL; like architects have for building codes a la the architect metaphor. Lesson readable by all students? Audio? what else should be on such a list? #cit602
I appreciate Kristin's architect metaphor. bit.ly/2t08Z8Y As a new teacher I am often overwhelmed by the number of things I am supposed to alter and include for student needs. #cit602
