@Budget nice predatory practices. Step 1: fail to disclose a new policy about car wages. Step 2: Charge for a little dirt on the outside of a car. Step 3: lose a loyal fastbreak member.

Soooo, this class is my first time ever tweeting. I even feel silly using the term tweeting... Let's see how this goes, lol. #cit602

@jcflores630 I’d bet they’ve had the message thrown their way, but I’d be concerned about whether or not they’ve really heard it. #cit602

Digital Citizenship has been swimming through my brain since I read it. I learned progressively as internet ettiquette/safety issues arose. Tried informing my kids. They are yeah yeah I know! Do they? #cit602

@hallawayjoe @jcflores630 I think you observe a reality: there are many, many important topics. Addressing them in isolation fails because these topics lack relevance and there simply isn’t time for everything! Plus, I’m still a fan. #cot602

@jcflores630 Issues of ethics including but beyond digital realm could be helpful i.e. Confucius, Socrates, Lao Tzu, etc.... Perhaps if embedded in a videogame or cool movie ie... Star Wars, etc.. #cit602

My toddler woke me with.. “daddy, I got out of bed cuz the sun found me and was looking at me... “ I abruptly jolted out of my half-sleep to fend off the intruder, only to process what he really said. Then I wondered if we’d have to medicate this someday. #dadlife #nomoresleep

@KylieGempler Go waaaaaaay back to the origins of education. It was (in part) a political experiment to ensure the health of a democratic republic. So, equal access isn’t just the right thing to do..., it’s necessary from more than one perspective! #cit602

@unlvpg I believe EVERY student deserves a fair and equal education no matter the circumstances. The needs of all my students can be met by using various technological materials: illustrate, reinforce new content, use online resources, videos, & podcasts #cit602

@KylieGempler I would push back on the emphasis. I wouldn’t say “must” be relatable or engaging. BUT, research confirms that it is usually better to push relevance as a means to promote enduring and meaningful learning. #cit602

@unlvpg In order to make sure ALL needs are met, we must provide cognitive support in giving students organizing clues and background information they can relate to through prior knowledge and experience. Curriculum must be relatable and relevant in order to be enaging. #cit602

@JonPenas Good thought Jon. The big risk I see is assuming students know tech, just because we live in a digital age. That assumption could lead to weakened training, poor preparation, or wildly unrealistic expectations. #cit602

M2 It's an overwhelming realization that 21st century learners must master skillsets and information beyond the core curriculum. Current educators play a vital role in employing learning activities that spark discovery, creation & innovation. Tech is the golden platform. #cit602

@SCollins24 @ThomasR09152848 That would be a great idea! You’d still need to understand and work with the core ideas for the shorthand to be relevant, but it would be quite helpful. Maybe as an infographic that can be posted in a classroom? 😉 #cit602

@ThomasR09152848 I feel like we as teachers need a "frequent concerns" checklist for UDL; like architects have for building codes a la the architect metaphor. Lesson readable by all students? Audio? what else should be on such a list? #cit602

@jcflores630 Canvas in CCSD or have you had a chance to do some pilot work at UNLV? If you already said, then I missed it. I’ll say this for tech: content > mode. There is a 40 year old conversation in the literature about this. Riveting stuff for us professor types. Lol. #cit602

I have been unimpressed with Canvas this last year; lot of people putting lot of time creating the lessons, but BORING. Infographics exactly what I am looking for! I would like my "exit tickets" to be an on-going, year-long development of lesson/learning connections.#CIT602

I read about this topic all the time. Yesterday, I was reading research from 1990 about games in business. It made me realize how games are fundamentally different, by style, rule, genre, content, etc. How do we find sense... if games are all so different? #cit600games

@RoyLeon06614892 Thanks for this, Roy! I wish everyone was this intellectually flexible. When researchers find that things don’t work, many still hold tight to older ideas. One classic example: learning styles. Simply: they don’t exist. But we still see them in use everywhere!

Prof @unlvpg asks if we teach the same way we were taught. As a TA and student teacher, I already don't. Tech wasn't used much at all while I was a student in the '00s, but I use tech with my students every single day in the classroom. #cit602

@ChrisFromOrbit @RoyLeon06614892 You have no idea how much easier it makes it for ME too! When I sent out assignments on google sheets a few years ago, most students couldn’t even do it from work. Thus: not at all.

@RoyLeon06614892 I do love that ccsd has gotten us the quite a few of the Google tools. There is a lot you can do like using pear deck to create presentations students can interact with. I like that I can give feedback on students'work on Google while they are still working on it. #cit602

@JamesSm33264742 As long as you use the hashtag, the tweets can be located. All tweets go out to everyone. The major innovation from Twitter was setting up a sharing framework. #cit600games

My favorite games were about socializing. I love Chinese checkers because this was about playing a game with my mother. Checkers was about playing a game with my dad. Both parents were better at these games than me but I soon learned steategies to win occasionally.#cit600games

#module2 #cit602 Yes change in the world around us impacts our practices. When I was in high school the internet wasn't a thing and my first online class was my senior year of college. Tech provides opportunity. It doesn't replace instruction, but augments it.
