@suchnerve Does it supply the same clean air when positioned off to the side like you have? I was thinking of getting it for the dentist.

Confirmed: The AirFanta Wear wearable air purifier, when positioned to the side, works great with straws (and feels no heavier than a pair of over-ear headphones!) [@ CC folks, I test weekly with PlusLife & wear a respirator consistently, so v low risk of needing source control]

@FullLaneFemme Would this work at the dentist? That’s the only place I ever go unmasked (with readimask) and I would love to have something to make me feel better about it.

@ ppl who can’t/won’t 😷 this seems the next best thing “[It] passed the Saccharin Sodium Qualitative Fit Test—a standard... for assessing N95 masks. While this DOES NOT equate to an official N95 rating, it confidently indicates a high level of protection when... worn correctly”

Hey everyone, I'm excited to share that AirFanta Wear is now live on air-fanta.com/products/airfa…. You'll find a thorough product breakdown and a detailed video I made explaining a lot of things about it. youtube.com/watch?v=dub-mm… We've sent some stock by sea to the warehouses in US, UK, EU, Australia, and Canada (est. 35-50 days). But if you need it urgently, we can ship directly from our China facility by air. Really hoping this can be helpful. If you have any question, please leave a comment or send email to airfanta@air-fanta.com.

Ordered mine last night. It won’t enable us to go eat dinner in public without some risk (not as good as N95), but it’ll substantially improve the odds of avoiding infection in one-way masking.

@JPWeiland Is day 0 the first day they have symptoms? Any info on how infectious someone is before symptoms might appear? I can’t seem to find good info on that part. Thanks!

The viral loads have always been asymmetric for this virus. Some small percentage of people shed at such low levels that they aren't likely to even infect their spouse. Another small percentage can have >100x higher than average shedding (superspreaders).

May 16th update: Only 13 of the last 180 weeks have been as low or lower than today. Trends are still pointing downwards, though XFG and NB.1.8.1 are growing. Estimates: 🔸175,000 new infections/day 🔸~1 in 190 currently infected 🔸️~1 in 475 are reasonably infectious

@QueeringPsych How many days should you leave it in the paper bag for? I’ve been using new ones each time lately and the costs are adding up!

This is important That said, no regular person with regular money is wearing a brand new mask everyday. That’s wasteful and expensive I reuse respirators by lightly spraying them with HOCl (since it doesn’t disrupt the charge) & then storing them in paper bags as a double tap
Open_ERV@open_erv

I think this is really worth sharing, a biodegradable n95. A mask per person per day is not sustainable without such a thing. If we are going to be about more masking, this has to be part of the program or it will all come to a grinding halt soon enough. g95.com/products/ocean…

@ibrake4ants Ugh. This just came up in a local “moms group” I’m in. Nurses saying to stop testing for Covid because it’s “the flu/cold”. And I’m like “shouldn’t you test if the tests exist so ppl know how to treat etc” they just don’t want to admit it’s not a “cold”

This nurse is annoying me; this is the second video she’s made in the last 24 hours complaining about all the people coming in to the ER to be tested for flu & covid and she doesn’t understand why they want to know what they have & she openly resents them.

My 19 year-old (w/a heart condition from prior Covid infection) got Covid for his birthday. Infection #5. I'm worried out of my mind. This is his 2nd Covid infection this year. Then he had flu A & B together over the summer. He used to be healthy. How long will we accept this?

So do I book a dentist appt now then? Pretty sure they’re booked out 3 weeks. Can it wait until spring? Levels are pretty low, I’m surprised.

@lovebugtx Yes it does feel like it’s year round! Friends I know their kids seem sick all the time! With masking we’re hardly sick anymore so I’m not used to it! If we make it to the weekend with no symptoms I’ll be happy!

Probably a silly question but will n95 protect against strep throat? Heard another child we had brief contact with at an event (15 minutes) has it today. We always mask but still anxious. Thanks!

@lovebugtx We always wash hands after going out but didn’t actually know she had it when we were there-heard from her mom today. She must’ve just started symptoms last night/today. I had it a bunch as a kid too. Thanks for the reply!

@SD10895 Yes it can protect you & hopefully yall washed your hands good afterwards. It’s big time spread through fomites/surfaces. It can live on hard surfaces for up to 21 days. We battled it all the time pre-C with my girl before we finally had her tonsils removed. Good luck.

@ParentMishmash Thanks! We keep them as tight as possible with no gaps so I hope it’s enough. Haven’t caught anything in the past few years masking everywhere so hopefully.

@AnyAnagram Thanks for the reply! Before Covid I always heard it was spread more through contact like surfaces or sharing straws etc. I am hoping our masks protect us as I really don’t want to have any sickness before Christmas!

@SD10895 I wear a 3M Aura everywhere in public, never break the seal. Once I caught strep throat, and the doctor thought it must have been from my kid, but I am certain I caught it in the classroom I teach in. I have sanitized the heck out of surface areas since then. So maybe?

@MarkMarkn1 @elisaperego78 In the US you can get testing for the basic ones at a Dr appt.last time my child was sick I had to ask multiple times for them to actually do it. They just looked her over and said “a virus” and didn’t want to do it! But have no problem charging me $200 for basically nothing

@singingsox Yes! I’m so tired of putting myself out there! Last time I asked my cardiologist about POTS they’re like “oh you don’t faint so it’s not that” and really condescending about it. Run basic labs and say “you’re fine!”

@SD10895 It’s like having every single stigmatized thing all at once and you just keep getting passed around as “that patient who thinks there’s something wrong with them but theyre fine” (but I’m NOT). Overheard someone say to my NP last time “oh she’s one of THOSE huh” like wtf

I was already not great about making appointments thanks to hating phone calls & AuADHD, but the fact that every new medical encounter also has to begin with a fight about airborne infection control practices makes it extra hard. I’m never gonna get this hEDS diagnosis lol 😩
