@MikeLindblom @typewriteralley @JulieETimm So...dozens bendy buses will be brought in as Route 97 to run on the surface as a supplement/shadow to 1 Line? The very same bendy buses we already don't have enough drivers and mechanics for that operate on congested-AF-roads? Or...bring back Route 41?

Just one blocked lane on Westlake and we’ve got a traffic mess. This will take some thinking to solve in 2033 or whenever Ballard to Sodo light rail construction happens.

@jw_pincus @typewriteralley The taper is to open the bike lane as much as possible while narrowing GP lanes, and bike box to allow people biking to have to transition to the left-side bike lane. Project limit was Post Alley because of federal funding requirements, so no work allowed beyond that point.

@typewriteralley Terrible. Such a bummer to spend hundreds of thousands removing the old gray concrete and installing red concrete for no real good reason aside from low-viz aesthetics. Is the center of the intersection going to be repaved? Many are in rough shape.

@pushtheneedle Instead of below-mentioned speculation to stop housing, IMO this is was a park which looked great in architectural renderings to architects and politicians, like that gravel part of SLU Park, but is a rather terrible place for people to be because it's just gravel and ret walls.

surely we can either better activate Seattle parks or at least let lots like these build much needed housing instead?

"Fixing this mess requires rethinking what community feedback is for. In short, the problem with community feedback is not the concept itself, but the way it is executed. We ask the wrong questions of the wrong people and use the answers in the wrong way." vice.com/en/article/n7z…

@NACTO As a cool example, there's a @seattledot corridor project using online outreach open for weeks with signs and QR codes all over the place to gain input from everyone. In addition, *I think* they're going to be setting up booths at three community events. route40.infocommunity.org

@NACTO +1. Requiring people to be physically present during a two hour window in an environment that frequently devolves into mob rule just to provide any comments for a project is outdated and is accessible by only a narrow, privileged audience.

@dseater @asher_971 David, to totally blow your marbles: the old cable car yoke is being removed as well! Talked with the contractor a couple weeks ago, and the yoke is putting up a real fight as they're yanking it straight out of the ground with a demolition excavator.

Fun fact: It would be easier to fix potholes and replace roads if we had less roads! You don’t see potholes in the Netherlands because they don’t overbuild their road infrastructure.

@asher_971 Madison is a great example: it was built as two streetcar/cablecar lanes, two horse lanes, and sidewalks. Not exactly built for cars. But the pavement from the 1800's is still in there and being removed as we speak for new concrete for RR G Line. Madison is far from the only ex.

@SD70MACMAN Seattle has too many streets with lanes which creates bad road conditions everywhere !

@typewriteralley Agreed. It's exactly why we have planned out measures like Move Seattle and ST. On that, given his poll, I'd love to see CM Pedersen act strongly and boldly on bus priority as we've been voting for years for more and better buses.
