@RikKhan20 @andrewbeck45 This isn’t about language. It’s about cultural beliefs that therapists are unaware of and which can inhibit effective practice with certain groups. With such a large HK Chinese community arriving in UK I believe we need to become more aware of these

@SDSSeminars @andrewbeck45 The same issue states 200 languages spoken in the area. So do we need 200 cultural competencies? Strategic thinking&flexibility needed not blind adherence to CBT dogma,otherwise we’re stuck eg.rigid use of Socratic approach is stressful but a Confucian one may be more acceptable.

@JMoncktonSmith Another approach to this is to recognise that hidden bad behaviour will always exist…for me the more interesting question to learn from is to ask what motivated managers to repeatedly ignore whistle blowers so that the murder of children could continue.

The Lucy Letby verdict today was welcome. Everyone wants to know why she did what she did. From the little I’ve seen the answer may lie in a direction that doesn’t fit neatly with the label serial killer or Munchausen by proxy.

Assisted Suicide & Mental Health: Not surprisingly the issue of human rights and euthanasia has cropped up in many discussions/trainings on suicide over the years. My biggest issue with legalised assisted dying lies not with understanding it in individual cases….

@pauljgilbert_ 1. “Modality Wars” have replaced “Religious Wars” in 21st century. They address similar issues in a non-religious individualistic society. When addressing some of the most important existential questions in life people often find it difficult to be inclusive or tolerant.
