Respectfully, it’s galling and unbelievably frustrating how cheating (whether via drone or doping) is seemingly viewed as the WORST thing in sport, when we have had 2+ years of horrific abuse stories from athlete survivors. That should be the scandal that shocks the conscience.

There will be many strong opinions on the Oilers hiring Bowman today, and rightfully so. I’d encourage people to read this article from Sheldon Kennedy as part of forming that opinion. Wherever you land is your own, but this is meaningful information from a well respected voice.

On Pog cannibalising yesterday’s stage… Maybe, *maybe* if the rider up the road had been a lowly rider on a lowly team I’d have some sympathy. But the rider up the road was on the team that has systematically dismantled Pog winning the Tour twice before. And that rider was up the road specifically to try and do that again. Of course Pog wants to put them to the sword, as they wanted to do to him. Additionally, Pog was ‘only’ 3’11” clear on GC before the stage. This is not a time gap where the Tour is ‘wrapped up’ as some have said. Pog has devastating first hand experience of, again, that *specific* team smashing 5 minutes into him on a mountain stage and taking a further 1’30” on him in a tough time trial the following day. And those very two stage types are what’s still to come. It seemed an unlikely thing to happen again given the way Vingegaard has been riding. But it’s still Pog’s job and duty to his teammates and team to do everything not to let it happen again.

This Tour de France is greatest laughing stock in the history of the Tour de France. Anyone who takes Tadej Pogačar or any of them seriously frankly is a lunatic. People used to debate what was barely believable. They used to straddle that line. This has crossed it and so funny.

TdF 2024 is just another story of an arm race 2020-21 : Pogi won quite easily pushing 6.1-6.2w/kg on long climbs 2022-23 : same numbers but dropped by Vingegaard except on short glycolytic climbs 2024 : 6.5-6.7w/kg allows him to destroy a miraculous Vinge at 2023 level 1/x

Here’s a man flippantly saying it’s perfectly ok for men to claim an identity and, in so doing, disenfranchise women and girls as long as they are not of the elite class in #sports. It’s pretty clear that little thought went into this response. Where do elite sports women come from? Oh, right, they arise from the “amateur” ranks. 🤔 So, when girls at any stage walk away from their sport because they are forced to compete against males (and share private spaces!) against all ethical principles it means there will be elite women missing who might have been spectacular. But Mr. Shannon here would never know and probably doesn’t care. #ProgressiveMisogyny is an amazing thing to behold.
