If you are evacuating north from Florida for #Milton, these are some of the good choices to go to, as well as where NOT to go (due to residual impacts from #Helene). Green - Good choice Yellow - City is OK but hotel space may be scarce due to impacts nearby Red - Not a good idea

UPDATE: The Town of Fort Myers Beach has issued a Mandatory Evacuation for the entire Island. "We encourage residents and business owners to make a plan and be evacuated by 3:00pm, on Monday, October 7, 2024. The Hurricane Re-entry Pass Program will be implemented following Hurricane Milton. If you are not a resident, please do not try to re-enter the Island as this will only make it more difficult for our residents to get back to their homes."

There is so much bad and mis guided information out there. I get people are wary. So, I'll share a few things to make sure you have good information. Yes, there is a chance of development in the Gulf of Mexico over the next 7-days. No, it is not currently a threat to the Carolinas. I posted the 10-day tropical storm probabilities and track and 15-day rainfall anomalies. Which shows below-average rainfall for our area in the next 15 days. We don't need any rain, but at some point, it will rain again, and right now, nothing heavy or extreme is expected in the next week to ten days.
