Lindsey Graham: An American Original

Democrats blocked the consideration of the NDAA - our annual defense bill authorizing funding for our military. The DSA just released their platform that calls to directly defund and dismantle the military. 🤔 It’s evidently clear who is steering the Dem’s ship.

Democrats gave us $5 gas by design. Their green energy policies caused prices to skyrocket over 9%. Senate Republicans are cutting taxes and unleashing American energy to provide relief for American families.

I appreciated hearing from Justices Kagan and Barrett about the need for enhanced security amid the unprecedented increase in threats to our Supreme Court. It is important to ensure their safety as they serve in such a critical constitutional role.

DC Democrats are holding America hostage: No NDAA for our troops. No funding for the government. No voter ID to stop fraud. Pure chaos strategy to claw back power. They’re not lawmakers, they’re saboteurs betraying every taxpayer.

The Working Families Tax Cuts are delivering for the American people. President Trump and Republicans have fixed the failed policies of the Biden administration by providing relief for families, securing our southern border, and offering hope to generations of Americans to come.

A sad day in the Senate. For the first time in U.S. history, every Senate Democrat, led by Chuck Schumer, voted against starting debate on the overwhelmingly bipartisan National Defense Authorization Act. For Alaska, this is probably the best NDAA our state has ever seen: $2.6 billion in military construction and 4,000 private sector jobs. It’s discouraging to see Senate Democrats caving to the far-left of their party, but I’m going to keep fighting for our troops, for our national security, and for Alaska military projects.

Senate Democrats blocked the advancement of the annual defense bill, showing once again that they’re willing to play political games with America’s national security, and it’s unacceptable.   Our brave men and women serving on the frontlines deserve to know they have unwavering support to protect and defend America. This bill authorizes the resources needed to care for our service members, ensuring America remains the strongest force for good on earth, and we must get it passed!

By BLOCKING this year’s defense authorization bill, @SenateDems are once again playing politics with our national security instead of prioritizing the safety of the American people.    Passed annually for 65 consecutive years, this legislation helps strengthen our national defense, provide a pay raise for our troops, and ensure our military has the tools they need to keep our nation safe. The Senate MUST pass the NDAA.

I am proud to cosponsor the Protect College Sports Act and support this effort to bring structure and stability back to college athletics.  With the landscape of college athletics rapidly evolving, I believe we all agree that something needs to be done, and this bill puts those needed steps into action.

Lindsey never stopped fighting to put America’s national security first, and he believed this would be the most consequential piece of legislation that he ever had an opportunity to get behind and get to the President's desk. I urge all of my Senate colleagues to join us in honoring Lindsey as we move this forward.

It would be putting it mildly to say I was shocked today to learn I am among 44 members of Congress whose text messages were snagged and reviewed by former DOJ Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigative team. This is a stunning abuse of power that should alarm every American, regardless of party. Jack Smith and his team bypassed the safeguards meant to protect Members of Congress from having their constitutionally protected communications compromised. I have many questions. Under what legal authority did they gain these messages? Did Mr. Smith lie to Congress at any time regarding having these messages or the content contained in them? Did any of these messages have sensitive or classified information in them? These and other questions should be asked and answered as soon as possible. What’s clear is that this wasn’t a technicality or oversight; it was a special counsel who thought he could operate above the Constitution and above the truth, empowered by the Biden administration’s weaponization of the Justice Department. This kind of lawlessness demands real accountability, and I expect answers. I thank Chairmen Grassley and Johnson for continuing to look into this most serious matter.

Some people come to Washington to be a senator. Others come to Washington to do something. Lindsey Graham was someone who came to Washington to do something. He shall be missed.

Lindsey was irreplaceable—a small earthquake who could sometimes be utterly and gloriously wrong, but impossible to stay mad at. He left behind an improved world. I’m going to miss him.

Disappointed—but not surprised—@SenateDems today blocked a generational investment in our military, including a pay increase for service members. Democrats have already caused the two longest shutdowns in American history. Just another example of Schumer bending the knee to far left radicals.
