Friends, old and new, this launch has been a long time coming. In a difficult chapter of my life, I’ve felt a call to start using my degrees to celebrate women in the Bible, Christian history & fiction & hopefully cultivate community along the way! I’d love it if you joined me!

All men and women, especially Christians, are called to fix their gaze on those who suffer, on the pain of the lonely, and on those who are emarginated for various reasons, for without them we cannot build a just society. Only together can we build communities of solidarity capable of caring for everyone, in which wellbeing and peace can flourish for the benefit of all. Caring for the humanity of others helps us to live our own lives to the full.

What do we do when a huge percentage of the population reads the Bible and thinks the ethos espoused by Jesus Christ is, “We live in a fallen world where there are evil people who need killing”? I am absolutely dumbfounded.
Lucy Tucker@statcrux31

Exactly incorrect. The Way is the Cross. We live in a fallen world where there really are evil people who need killing. Jesus did not come for political peace, but for the peace of conversion, and the peace of knowing that the two enemies we cannot defeat, sin and death, are defeated in the Crucifixion and the Resurrection.

@SJessicaJohnson @TaraAnnThieke Evangelical family: “Read this book about all the times God’s chosen people/their leaders fell short + sinned.” Also Evangelical family. “We can’t ever question or turn our back on Israel or God will turn his back on us. God’s chosen people + their leaders do not make mistakes!”

When I was in my 20s I wished to deepen my understanding of the Israel-Palestine situation. So I purchased at least a dozen books - mostly semi-obscure, academic, many by dissenting Israeli historians. A day came when I closed a book halfway through, resolved to read no further, even to try to forget all I had learned, and then I donated all the books. It was clear, painfully and miserably clear, that I would be wasting my life trying to understand it more when it was nothing more than this.

@statcrux31 @FeserEdward Yep. He’s saying that the Way of Peace is worthless. Might makes right so let’s pick up a bigger stick. You know. Just like Jesus said.

@FeserEdward But listen to the whole clip. He’s saying that some enemies have to be fought. That’s all. And that’s correct.

It is not sufficient, but it is absolutely necessary. Otherwise you become no better than what you claim to oppose. And as Elizabeth Anscombe wrote in “War and Murder,” God will not be impressed by those who try to rationalize butchery by saying to him: “We had to break your law… We could not obey your commandments, for we did not believe your promises.”

Netanyahu: It is not enough to be moral. It is not enough to be just. "Jesus Christ has no advantage over Genghis Khan. If you are strong enough, ruthless enough, and powerful enough, evil will overcome good."

@KhalilJeries It’s would be just as terrible if he had said “Ghandi” instead of “Jesus.” In either case, he is saying the Way of Peace is worthless. That sentiment should not be supported.

@realKarras I mean, yeah. In either case, he’s “only” saying the Way of Peace is worthless. Might makes right.

@SJessicaJohnson @TaraAnnThieke @MuntherIsaac No, I can't tell em. I'm not even Christian. They don't even listen to their fellow Protestant outside the Evangelist. I'm just hoping that an righteous Christian from the Evangelist sect speaks more about it. Thanks for the insight, I'm glad I found your post.

Thank you, prime minister, for presenting such a clear framing. If the choice is the way of Genghis Khan or the way of Jesus Christ, we choose Christ. May we have the strength and courage to to follow the Jesus over the powers and principalities.

@mmeJen @TaraAnnThieke @jvgraz I still struggle with the fact that October 7th was when I started paying more attention because I don’t want to believe that “advocacy violence” is justified. Still, it was the moment that I realized I needed to understand more about what is really going on.

Christ asked us to pray for those who see themselves as our enemies. When we do this our love springs up anew, both for others and for the Truth. It is a good request.

@JosephNaig50298 @TaraAnnThieke @MuntherIsaac is an essential contemporary voice for understanding the reality of Palestinian Christians as well as Muslims. I highly recommend his book, “Christ in the Rubble,” which gives a good overview of the last 100 years and the posture we ought to take now.

“This world is not heaven, but our souls are still called to Its laws.” This is the “already-not yet” reality of the Christian. And if your response to non-Christians is to justify violence, you are not living in the Kingdom of God.
Tara Ann Thieke@TaraAnnThieke

The world is a hard place. Christ calls us to a new understanding of this world. That call is to each of us, regardless of where we come from, speaking to the Imago Dei in each & every single person. This world is not heaven, but our souls are still called to Its laws.

@Erynthzo @TaraAnnThieke @MuntherIsaac Also, you are not wrong. Most Zionist Christians pretend that Palestinian Christians don’t exist, or they tell themselves that Palestinian Christians are protected by Israel instead of harmed by them. That’s why Munther Isaac’s books are helpful if they are willing to listen.

@SJessicaJohnson @TaraAnnThieke @MuntherIsaac Some Evangelical Christian here. We told them that Christians are also being assaulted but they act like they don't care about Christian Catholic, Christian Protestant-non evangelist, Christian Orthodox who are dying there, as long as they are not Evangelist or Jews.

@Erynthzo @TaraAnnThieke @MuntherIsaac The idea that we have to support modern-day Israel because they are God’s “chosen people” & thus can never do wrong doesn’t even make sense when you read the Bible. God sent prophets over and over who condemned Israel’s people and government for idolatry or treatment of the poor.

@Erynthzo @TaraAnnThieke @MuntherIsaac the the face of the New Testament, where through Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross, God “grafts” non-Jewish believers into his chosen people, i.e. all those who believe in Christ as Lord and Savior. It doesn’t really make sense, which is why the propaganda has to be so strong.
