It was both encouraging and inspiring to meet with the second cohort of 25 Somaliland engineers undertaking advanced training in Israel in the fields of water management, storage systems, and modern water technologies. Investing in knowledge and strengthening the skills of our professionals is essential to achieving sustainable national development. These engineers will play a vital role in modernizing Somaliland’s water sector and advancing the development of our national infrastructure. My Government places the highest priority on expanding and improving public infrastructure, particularly access to water. We are committed to ensuring that, within the next three years, every citizen of Somaliland has access to clean, safe, and reliable water. I am confident that the partnerships, expertise, and investments we are building today will provide a strong foundation for realizing our national vision and securing a more prosperous future for our people.

It was a privilege to visit Somaliland children receiving life-saving heart surgery in Israel and to witness firsthand care and treatment being provided to them. The courage, resilience, and smiles of these young children serve as a powerful reminder of the value of hope and the profound importance of saving human lives. I extend my sincere gratitude to the doctors, medical professionals, and all those whose humanitarian efforts have made it possible for these Somaliland children to receive the treatment they need. My thoughts and prayers are with the children and their families. I pray for their full recovery, good health, and a bright future.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: "This is a historic moment. It's the first official visit by the President of Somaliland after the official recognition of Somaliland. We are proud, and I am proud that my government is the first government on the planet to recognize Somaliland. Others will follow. And I think that these steps reflect a deep spiritual bond between our peoples. The Jewish people know what it means to possess an ancient history, a distinct identity, an unbreakable national spirit, yet still be denied recognition. And today Israel recognizes Somaliland and helps correct a historic injustice. I believe that we can expand our relations to many, many things. We discussed this both in my private meeting with the President, but also with our teams. There's much to do in the field of water, in the field of agriculture, in the field of technology, in the field of security – and in many other areas that Israel welcomes the cooperation and participation of our own people with your people, Mr. President. This courageous and historic decision stands as a testament to the resilience, political maturity, and unwavering aspirations of the people of Somaliland. For more than three decades, our nation has remained steadfast in its commitment to peace, democracy, stability, and the democratic expression of the will of its people. Somaliland will never forget this historic gesture of friendship, mutual respect, and principled recognition. We firmly believe that Somaliland and Israel will build a deep and enduring partnership founded on mutual respect, security, innovation, development, and a shared commitment to advancing the prosperity and well-being of our peoples. I am also pleased to announce that the Republic of Somaliland and the State of Israel have formally signed a Strategic Joint Declaration of Cooperation, marking a historic milestone in relations between our two nations.
