At the 25th ministerial mtg minister @tfajon emphasized the importance of #EU-@ASEAN partnership: “In a world marked by uncertainty & conflicts, trust is no longer a given. It must be actively built. I hope we leave #Brunei w/ renewed responsibility that together we can remain anchors of stability in an increasingly complex 🌍.

Looking ahead, we must ensure that our partnership delivers tangible results for our citizens. There are three issues which are key to bringing more prosperity & peace to both: 1️⃣safeguarding international law, particularily the #UN Charter 🇺🇳 & #UNCLOS 📜 2️⃣trade & reliable supply chains ⛓️‍💥 3️⃣security, maritime security in the Indo-Pacific region & elsewhere 🚢

I am pleased that, over the past four years, @vladaRS has succeeded in significantly strengthening cooperation with #ASEAN countries. Today, these very countries are feeling the full brunt of the U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran. We discussed measures and economic resilience with our colleagues from Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, and Singapore.
Tanja Fajon@tfajon

Veseli me, da smo uspeli v 4-ih letih @vladaRS močno okrepiti sodelovanje z državami #ASEAN. Danes prav te močno čutijo posledice ameriško-izraelskega napada na Iran. S kolegi Vietnama, Filipinov, Tajske, pa Kambodže, Singapurja smo govorili o ukrepih in ekonomski odpornosti.

Yesterday, @SLOinPHL, together with @StratbasePH, hosted a conference titled “Science2Business: Energy Resilience for Enhanced Security,” which attracted around 150 participants. The event fostered a dynamic exchange of ideas and best practices between stakeholders from Slovenia and the Philippines regarding the transfer of science, research & development and innovation into the private sector. Key discussions focused on the significance of decarbonization and energy efficiency in the defence & security sectors, as well as the role of digitalisation and artificial intelligence in crisis management, particularly in bolstering disaster resilience. We were honoured to hear from influential Filipino leaders, including @DOSTphl Secretary Renato Solidum Jr. and President @bongbongmarcos special envoy for disaster risk reduction and management, Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyaga. We also welcomed representatives from various departments and agencies, academia, business associations, research organisations and the private sector. This collaborative approach has the potential to deliver tangible solutions that enhance our energy resilience and climate security through energy efficiency. The innovations presented by Slovenian companies and research institutions can contribute to safer societies in the face of disasters via technology sharing, academic collaboration, and public-private partnerships. #EnergyResilience #ClimateSecurity

Ahead of today’s conference and B2B Sessions “Science2Business: Energy Resilience for Enhanced Security”, organised by @StratbasePH & @sloinphl, Amb @knez_s argued in her column for @PhilstarNews that the key to energy resilience and climate security lies in energy efficiency. “The current global energy crisis has once again exposed the vulnerability of our societies with regard to energy security. Energy efficiency [therefore] makes us less vulnerable to geopolitical disruptions and allows us to improve our standard of living.” Full column 👇 philstar.com/opinion/2026/0…

We strongly condemn Russia’s large-scale attacks against #Ukraine 🇺🇦, deliberately causing devastating civilian casualties, including children, in several cities. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those affected. Continuous brutal attacks show once again that #Moscow is choosing escalation and violence, and has no interest to negotiate in good faith. #Russia must stop this war and engage in genuine negotiations towards lasting peace.
Andrii Sybiha 🇺🇦@andrii_sybiha

Over the past day and night, Russia carried out a massive terrorist attack against Ukraine with almost 700 drones, dozens of ballistic and cruise missiles. The attack primarily targeted civilians. At least 4 people were killed in Kyiv, including a 12-year-old child, with over 50 more injured, 8 killed in Odesa, 3 killed and three dozen injured in Dnipro, 1 killed in Zaporizhzhia. Such attacks cannot be normalised. These are war crimes that must be stopped and their perpetrators held to account. We urge the international community to take immediate action. All decisions required to increase pressure on the aggressor must be unblocked now. It is immoral, counterproductive, and dangerous to delay sanctions against Russia or packages of support for Ukraine. Any day of further inaction on critical decisions sends wrong signals and encourages the aggressor to continue, prolong, and expand the war. We reiterate our call for all states to join the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression Against Ukraine by notifying the Council of Europe of the intent to join its Enlarged Partial Agreement. The most appropriate response to Russian terror is the inevitability of justice for the leadership of the Russian terrorist regime.

We are pleased to announce that Ambassador @knez_s presented today her Letter of Credence to @hourn_kao, Secretary-General of @ASEAN and has become Slovenia’s new non-resident Ambassador to ASEAN. During the ceremony, Amb Knez conveyed Slovenia’s firm commitment to strengthening political relations and deepening cooperation with ASEAN. She highlighted that the opening of Slovenia’s first diplomatic mission in the region — the Embassy of Slovenia in Manila — together with our country’s intention to accede to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), clearly demonstrate this dedication. She emphasised the mutual benefits of advancing joint efforts in key areas such as trade, the green transition, the digital economy and connectivity. Ambassador Knez succeeds Ambassador Marko Ham who concluded his tenure in December 2025. @MZEZ_RS @vladaRS @SLOinAUS

Slovenia 🇸🇮 firmly opposes the death penalty at all times and in all circumstances and it committed to its abolition globally. The Israeli 🇮🇱 death penalty law approved yesterday by the Knesset raises serious concerns under international #HumanRights law. Especially concerning is the discriminatory character of the approved bill against Palestinians in the Occupied Territory. #NoDeathPenalty
