President Donald J. Trump has just posted an image to Truth Social of a map of the Middle East centered on Iran covered in the stars & stripes with the title "United States of the Middle East?" This follows the abrupt cancellation of his weekend trip to the Bahamas for the wedding of Don Jr. followed by a weekend at his property in Bedminster, NJ.

@doqholliday Yep. I learned from my in-laws example. Give it away when the kids can use it and you can enjoy their use of it.

If you're a boomer in your 60s and 70s and you own property and are well off but your children are struggling and can't even buy a home, what the hell are you doin? Your time is over. It's their time. Help them. Be a good parent, do whatever it is you need to do... sell the house if you need to, give them some kickbacks to help buy their first home, etc. Life is short. Be a good parent and don't squat on stuff that doesn't matter. Give them their time.

According to Axios, citing classified intelligence products shared with the news outlet, Cuba has acquired 300 drones from Russia and Iran since 2023 and has concept operations (CONOP) on the books where they would be used to target U.S. installations and vessels at Key West and Guantanamo Bay. Per the report “officials don't believe Cuba is an imminent threat, or actively planning to attack American interests. But U.S intelligence indicates the island's military officials have been discussing drone warfare plans in case hostilities erupt as relations with the U.S. continue to deteriorate.”

@sentdefender Here’s an idea require all troops to be water proficient and tighten body standards. I spent the last year of my contract teaching grown ass men how to swim, mind you they were in the Navy and some had multiple deployments while not knowing how to swim.

@dccommonsense War is a diplomatic concept, like treaties. So Congress can declare war. The CinC is not empowered to declare war either by words or actions. It can react and respond, but it cannot unilaterally commit war alone.

After years and years of asking youse guys to share your family photographic treasures with Dave's Car ID Service, it occurred to me I've never really reciprocated by sharing my own. Honestly, I have a bit of a guilt complex over this, and so in lieu of my normal car history blather today I will dig into my own family archives for a few IDs. Starting with a caricature of Yours Truly, age 11, driving a Disneyland Autopia car. It was the big family California vacation of my youth, the one that my siblings and I still talk about. In fact I was vacationing with my brother in Italy recently, hobnobbing at fancy restaurants and wineries and museums and such, and that trip came up. And we both still agreed it was the greatest vacation ever. Anyhoo over the 3 days we spent at Disneyland I lost count of how many times I took a spin at Autopia, along with the mini Model T track. Mom & Dad commissioned one of the park caricaturists to draw cartoons of all of us (I think it was like $5 per), and described our various personalities. For me? "All wants to do is drive those cars." So I guess this is probably the closest you'll get to an origin story from me. Maybe some day I'll ask AI to turn this image into a 1970s Hanna-Barbera cartoon.

FISA 702 just passed the House. This bill lets the government search Americans’ private communications without a warrant—in direct violation of the Fourth Amendment. But don’t blame the GOP alone. Forty-two Democrats betrayed the American people to help Mike Johnson pass it.

Alex Cora, per @JonHeyman, is owed $13.54 million from the Red Sox through 2027. I'm sure he's in no rush to take a new job and getting to spend time with family is invaluable. He'll have his pick of opportunities, including from teams not in last place, when he wants them.

Alex Cora was offered the Philadelphia Phillies' managerial job before Don Mattingly, but declined. He has decided to spend time with his family.
