Today, the @SSRCS made an important milestone by signing the Tripartite Agreement with @ifrc and @ICRC for the implementation of Sevilla Agreement 2.0. This agreement is a sign of trust & mutual respect that commits the entire #RCRC family to do more together for people in need.

In 2025, together with the @SSRCS, we repaired 72 handpumps in cooperation with the SSRC, restoring access to water for over 36,000 IDPs and distributed water filters to about 6,500 households in #SouthSudan.

In Camp Zero, families sleep on mats or bare ground. Food and clean water are scarce, and daily life is a constant struggle. The @SSRCS, with support from @IFRC, is installing latrines and delivering clean water daily, helping reduce health risks. But with fragile shelters, and rising flood risks, more support is urgently needed.

In Renk, South Sudan, thousands forced to flee conflict now face another daily struggle: finding safe water. Thanks to the @SSRCS, communities are gaining access to clean water and essential sanitation — helping people stay safe and healthy despite the challenges of displacement. Simple actions like handwashing can prevent disease and save lives. Read their stories: bit.ly/41eQcXQ #WhereWaterFlowsEqualityGrows #WorldWaterDay2026

"I don't know where my husband and my other children are and if they are safe. There are many people that did not make it." Esmiralda Esmiralda fled the violence in Khartoum with her two small daughters (2 and 4). For weeks they walked towards South Sudan, full of fear and hunger. They've now been in a transit camp for 9 months, fighting to survive each day. Esmiralda gathers firewood and then sells it for twenty or forty cents, hoping it will be enough to feed her children. Most days, the money is not enough, but she thanks god that their souls are still safe. The @SSRCS, with support from the @IFRC, is providing care, restoring family links, and standing with people who have lost almost everything. But the needs are growing.

“Now I’ve lost everything.” Nawal fled Darfur. Esmiralda fled the conflict in Sudan. In Chad and South Sudan, these two mothers are trying to rebuild their lives after war — facing insecurity, water shortages, and daily uncertainty, while holding on for their children. Nearly 4.5 million people have fled Sudan, arriving in countries already under strain. In place like Renk, South Sudan, families are surviving with almost nothing - walking miles for water, eating once a day, and sheltering in makeshift tents as the rainy season approaches. Across Chad, Egypt, Ethiopia, Uganda, and South Sudan, needs are rising fast, but funding is falling. The @IFRC and Red Cross and Red Crescent volunteers are working every day to provide water, shelter and support, but they can't do it alone. Without urgent global action, this risks becoming an event greater humanitarian catastrophe. 🎙️@daniellebrouw

Last week @IFRC visited Renk, at the border between Sudan and South Sudan. Nearly 80% of the 1.3 million refugees and returnees fleeing the conflict in Sudan have crossed into South Sudan through this border town. Every day, families arrive with only a few belongings, searching for safety. With the support of the IFRC, the @SSRCS is there to help, restoring family links, providing psychosocial support, and assisting people in the first critical days after arrival. 🎙️@daniellebrouw

Hundreds of people in Renk, South Sudan, have received cataract surgeries, helping improve vision and quality of life. 20 volunteers from the @SSRCS supported patients every step of the way—helping those with limited mobility reach the operating room, administering eye drops, distributing medicine and providing protective glasses. Vision loss is common among older people in Renk, often linked to vitamin deficiencies. Thanks to the dedication of the volunteers, patients were able to access care safely and with dignity.

Some people have to choose between buying sanitary pads or food for their family. To address this urgent need and to celebrate International Women's Day, the South Sudan Red Cross @SSRCS distributed 175 dignity kits to women and girls. Each kit contains sanitary pads, underwear, soap, a towel, and a flashlight with batteries. Together, we shape a safer future for the next generation.
