@paulkasekesnr @_ladytopaz I also know of some Profs that were moving from some Unis, and got appointed at Senior Lecturer level. One has to then decide to take the offer or stay where they are and maintain their Professorial titles. The catch is, being a Prof is a promotion, not a qualification.

Guys a LECTURER is someone who teaches at an institution of higher learning. They can have any qualification (usually a Masters or PhD). A DOCTOR is someone with a PhD. A PROFESSOR is someone with a PhD AND extensive publications and academic contributions to their field.

@paulkasekesnr @_ladytopaz To add, you can be promoted to Professorship in one Uni, and when at a later stage you decide to leave that UNi for another, the next Uni reserves the right to downgrade you back to your actual qualification on offer letter, e.g. to your Dr title. Rare cases though but possible.

Not entirely correct. Professorship standards are determined at institutional level. This is why there are many professors who do not have PhDs and a long list of publications. The criteria for awarding professorships is actually a very contentious issue particularly in South African academia.

KNOW THE LAW There is NO NEED to conduct a REFERENDUM in order to adopt Constitutional Amendment Bill no 3, which seeks to extend President @edmnangagwa ‘s term to 2030, change the electoral cycle from 5 - 7 years, etc. This is because, the Constitution expressly states that a REFERENDUM must be conducted only when: 1. amending the bill of rights (chapter 4). 2. ⁠amending chapter 16 (agricultural land). 3. ⁠amending section 328 of the constitution. The Constitutional Amendment Bill no 3 does not seek to amend any of these 3 chapters, so conducting a referendum will not only be unnecessary but also an assault to the Constitution. More so, this bill seeks to 1. extend the term length whilst maintaining terms limits at 2 in line with section 95 of the Constitution. 2. ⁠The Zimbabwean law permits the extension amendment without conducting a referendum and benefiting the incumbent as well, see Mapungu v Min of Justice and ors 2021 case.
