The Cleveland Clinic called me a few moments ago to say the robotic hands were disconnected to the patient as Kennedy sat at the console.
I asked about his use of the machine in the OR and was not told it was disconnected. We'll update the story soon. cc: @bobjherman

@DKThomp Young adult fitness is real. Yet cigarette smoking is on the rise. So there is a disconnect in the minds of this group on health impact of the cigarettes vs alcohol. Or perhaps it’s about feeling in control.

@AbraarKaran Also the flight attendant of the plane from the earlier case (where the cruise passenger was initially put on the flight then taken off before flight occurred). How much contact could they really have had? That's another example of contact, but not prolonged, extended contact.

Important details about the level of contact on the ship between sick cases and exposed cases. Seems not everyone who got infected had extended close contact. See tweet below #Hantavirus
Again, as long as all exposed returned travelers are in quarantine we should not have any onward spread. But quarantine must be done correctly with monitoring. You don’t take chances on this.

Earlier today I spoke with the doctor on the ship and he confirmed something. CDC messaging continues to say "prolonged, close contact" but that contradicts: 1) what's in the literature, and 2) what's happening on this ship. --> the doc told me a few who got infected/died DID have direct contact w/ very sick patient while treating them, but 3 who tested positive did NOT have direct physical or close contact - only shared time in a few spaces on the ship where people congregate (dining, lecture area)
