An absurd ruling in a Waterloo case last week, where a judge declared homelessness a constitutionally protected class and blocked the region from clearing an encampment on land where a major transit hub is being built, exposes a deeper problem in Canadian democracy. Our most consequential legislators are increasingly judges, using the Charter to invent new rights not based on any precedent to impose radical progressive policy preferences on the rest of us:

CONSERVATIVES: "Why would you be weakening our current sentencing regime, particularly in the area of drinking and driving?" LIBERALS: "One of the bills that's going through the parliamentary process restores a prohibition on driving for those convicted of driving drunk."

17 arrests in Peel Region today, an international criminal network targeting the South Asian community. Good work by @PeelPolice. But policing alone can't fix this. The Liberal government has left the door wide open for extortionists. Here's what Conservatives are calling for: 🔒 Remove the get-out-of-jail-free loophole in Bill C-16 Mandatory minimums must mean something. ⚖️ 10-year mandatory minimums for extortion tied to organized crime or illegal firearms. ✈️ Find and deport all visiting criminals & gangsters. 🏠 Pass the 'Stand on Guard' principle so Canadians have the right to defend themselves. Soft-on-crime policies have consequences. It's time to get serious.

In March, a foreign worker from India (student turned permanent resident) got 5.5 months of house arrest for using her position as a Walmart cashier to help her friends steal $7000 worth of merchandise. "Immigration consequences" was one reason for the light sentence.

We have had years of Liberal white papers all promising that things will improve for the Canadian Armed Forces. They haven't. This is why Carney deserves scrutiny, and why his online defenders, even when being critical, appear to agree with my main thesis #cdnpoli

The point of my piece was that Carney does not deserve nearly half as much credit as he seems to be getting on defence spending. This poster skipped over how equipment readiness remains, on average, at only 51%

You know what really makes me angry about this Snowbirds fiasco? For the next decade, and probably longer, we’ll watch American, British, and other foreign display teams in Canadian skies. It won’t be Canadian pilots! Canadians want to be inspired by Canadians. Do you want to know why we had a second female Snowbird pilot? Because we already had the first. That doesn’t just happen by accident. It takes pride, investment, and leadership. This was a purely political decision. This one makes me mad. I’m making another video on this. Stay tuned.

Once again, the Liberal government are peddling illusions with splashy announcements and big claims to one day, decades in the future, do something. Instead of fixing defence procurement, the Liberals continue to add unnecessary layers of bureaucracy with their Defence Investment Agency. The latest capability and acquisition audit found that our women and men in uniform need to wait between 9 and 27 years to get the equipment they need to defend Canada, and once they do it is often out of date. Conservatives are calling on the government to get the equipment and infrastructure our sailors, soldiers, and aviators need quickly so they can do the important work we ask of them.” financialpost.com/fp-finance/ban…
