Email from my Archbishop the other day struck as so funny, opening: "Good morning, Tim and many thanks for your email ... I am working from home today..." Can't help but picture him in mitre, shorts & T-shirt sitting on his couch. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

@canonlawyered I once had a crew show up to re-sod on my whole lawn a week early, before the sprinkler repair guy came, and I was out of town. Later they complained that my sprinklers weren't working to water the new sod.

Unknown number: "Hi, you order a delivery of loose mulch?" "Yep, that's me." "Ok, the driver is about 10 mins away..." "I ordered delivery for Friday. My driveway isn't clear and I haven't prepped anything." "Yeh, maybe that's the due date, but the baby's on its way now man."

What the Church actually teaches: "When all candidates hold a position that promotes an intrinsically evil act...the voter may decide to take the extraordinary step of not voting for any candidate or, after careful deliberation, may decide to vote for the candidate deemed less likely to advance such a morally flawed position and more likely to pursue other authentic human goods."
Child of God🍞🍷@SamanthaRedeemd

Opting out of voting is morally irresponsible for all Catholics. That's not my opinion, it's CCC 2240: "Submission to authority and co-responsibility for the common good make it morally obligatory to pay taxes, to exercise the right to vote, and to defend one's country."

I almost never refer to myself as a "Roman" Catholic, but I find it amusing that two sorts of people do use that adjective on me 1. Anti-Catholics who lob "Roman" as a sort of slur 2. People who are trying to be respectful and think that adding "Roman" is more formal and polite

@jdflynn I bought a Jeep a few years ago - couldn't avoid a screen, but I got the model with the smallest screen possible, and I almost always have it off. Sadly, it turns on automatically when I put it in reverse. But worse than both of these is "start-stop"

I have to buy a car. Surely I’m not the only person who wants one without a screen in it.

@FrPBehm Scrolling too quickly through my feed, which is a mix of current affairs, Catholics, and sports, I almost thought this tweet was about Ted Cruz in 2028. Then I saw it was Fr Behm and knew it was about the Pirates!

Question: Why is marriage or sometimes holy orders the only sacrament that we celebrate with a giant party and invite everyone we know to? Why don't we do this with baptism and confirmation? They are both once in a lifetime sacraments too.

@bethanyshondark I suspect part of it is our mobility as a society. My wife and I would love nothing better than to babysit every day, but our grandkids live in another state... and we lived a few states away from both sets of grandparents when my kids were little.

Lots of factors. Probably our parents generation is more self-centric and want to spend their retirement on themselves. They are also older than previous generations because we’re having kids later.
Nina@NinaPanickssery

Genuinely curious—why don’t more people use their own parents/kid’s grandparents for childcare as opposed to daycare/preschool/nannies (which seem more common)? Is it common for boomer grandparents to show disinterest in their grandchildren?
