@NicholasTyrone I was strongly in favour at the time but knowing the response for young people in particular I'm not sure any of it was worth it. But what I am sure of is that we've got far too used to the idea the government will just step in to stop anything happening in the world.

One of the pollsters always shows Reform as massively higher than others, why can your logic not apply there? Because they show Reform doing well. @NicholasTyrone Strong disagree Nick. Perceived wisdom is Labour are finished and Reform are going to win.

What’s odd about this take is that Reform storming to a majority at the next election is not “received wisdom” - the underlying SW1 assumption has been and remains that Reform will fall apart and the two main parties will rise again. Which I still don’t see much evidence for.

Starmer’s departure is presented as imminent and inevitable. It doesn’t actually need to be. He has a large majority and successor isn’t obvious. An 8 point deficit at this stage of a parliament is perfectly surmountable in 2029 too.
