Besides bungie hasn't made any official statement if they changed the math or if this will be something temporary. Making incentives to use other weapons is a good thing. Also some players begged endgame to be more challenging.

@S__JeffryS @jcb_response @A0TERRA @Bungie @Destiny2Team Normal raids were fine the way they were. They should not have capped us at -5 power for all encounters resulting in a 35% damage loss. Losing damage helps no one and there was no reason to make the baseline game harder

raids now have surges, this is one of the worst changes i have ever fucking seen please revert this change man @Bungie @Destiny2Team

It's literally not that bad, besides even if it's like a stasis or arc surge, there are ways to still beat it. The players are responsible for adapting to challenging content, not the other way around.

Not everything should be easier lol. They already made the game easy enough with the recent changes what more do yall want?
