The so-called Palmarian Church has nothing to do with Sedevacantism. Its founder, a 'seer' who became blind (!) after a car accident, claimed that he was the true successor to Paul VI when the latter died on Aug. 6, 1978. Unfortunately, Bp. Pierre-Martin Ngo-dinh-Thuc, the Vietnamese bishop who later consecrated sedevacantist bishops, had been persuaded to consecrate bishops for the Palmarians in 1975/76, but this was while Paul VI was still alive and they weren't nearly as nuts as they have since become. The Palmarians have their origin in a fake Marian apparition in 1968. Because the messages opposed the revolution of Vatican II, it was easy to get traditionalists interested in them. At first, Abp. Marcel Lefebvre had been approached by the Palmarians, and it was he who sent them to Bp. Ngo-dinh-Thuc instead, as he was too busy and Thuc wasn't.
