LAFD is hemorrhaging the 5-8 year studs who we are counting on to become our next generation of captains and chiefs. We spend millions of tax dollars training them up, then they take their loaded task books and flee to OCFA or Ventura County because they didn’t sign up to clean up after vagrants 24/7. If Nithya Raman were serious about fire protection, she’d address the 45,000+ sources of ignition illegally occupying all of our public spaces and causing all these fires. But she won’t. Because she’s not a serious person.

There are 46 vagrant fires every single day in LA…rubbish and encampment fires that destroy property, vehicles, kill pets, spread to vegetation, and compromise infrastructure. That’s 17,000+ fires per year. Until you clear vagrants from the streets, don’t pretend you’re serious about mitigating fire threats.

Hasan Piker put the LA mayoral candidate and DSA member through a full-on struggle session over her record, repeatedly pressing her to explain where she had fallen short of the movement line. And honestly, even as a conservative, I felt bad for her. This was brutal. One flashpoint was a DSA criticism over Raman’s role in a city resolution tied to the UTLA BDS fight. But the exchange was bigger than that. This was not a good-faith interview. It was an ideological audit. Raman mostly tried to answer politically. She came to DSA through housing and homelessness, said this was not her area of expertise, said she had learned more, and promised she was “committed to learning more.” Stick around for more, because by the end of this even Hasan’s chat wanted his head.

Road rage to the extreme! This Uber driver was trying to take his passengers to their destination when another car cuts in front of him and the driver of that car gets out of the car threatening the Uber driver. He approached the door trying to open it yelling for the Uber driver to get out of his car. The Uber driver and his passengers quickly flee by backing up and turning around but the raging man does not give up and begins to chase them through the neighborhood causing them to run red lights to get away. The female passengers quickly get on the phone with the police and help guide the officers to their location. The police were able to catch the guy as he did try to run once he saw police were involved. Based on the streets and landmarks I believe this is in the Northport (East Northport), Long Island, New York area. Good teamwork and quick thinking helped them escape what could have been a very dangerous situation.

I am outraged that a swastika flag was raised overlooking Washington Square Park. This hateful antisemitic act was meant to spread fear among and intimidate Jewish New Yorkers. It has no place in our city. Our administration is committed to fighting antisemitism in all its forms and protecting the safety of Jewish New Yorkers. The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating this despicable act, and I am confident those responsible will be held accountable.
