Jersey City fought. Jersey City won. For years, our community stood up against a $10.7 billion highway expansion that would have poured more traffic and pollution through our neighborhoods. Today, that plan is dead. No six-lane Turnpike tearing through our city. No second bridge doubling down on car traffic. Just a community that refused to give up — and a Governor who listened. This is what organizing looks like. Thank you to every advocate, every rally, every public comment that made this happen. @bikejc @safestreetsjc @FWWNewJersey #JerseyCity #TurnpikeTrap

Jersey City should have an electric cargo bike ride-share program. I handle most errands on my regular bike plus the Burley trailer but there was a moment today going up Newark Ave with an extra 100 lbs behind me that I would have paid good money to rent a cargo e-bike.

Congratulations to the residents of the Heights who have waited for years for more bike and pedestrian-friendly streets. Tonight, the Council voted 8-1 in favor of the Franklin St. safety plan. Safer streets are coming to the Heights for all - bikers, walkers, and drivers.

We're grateful that Mayor @SolomonforJC & Councilperson @jake_ephros fully support the Franklin Street Bike Lane. We're hopeful that the rest of the City Council members will join them in championing this vital street safety measure when it comes before them tonight for a vote.

Join us at City Hall on Wed., March 11 at 6 p.m. to speak up for safer streets! The City Council will vote on an ordinance to turn Franklin Street into a one-way, making room for the first protected bike lane in the Heights. We can't let this opportunity pass! All hands on deck!

Thank you Parking Authority for responding to reports I made of cars parked on and/or blocking sidewalks. Sidewalks are for pedestrians and we need to see the enforcement that’ll keep those sidewalks safe

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority has reversed course on the Newark Bay Bridge, abandoning a controversial plan to add four lanes in a move that environmentalists, residents, and advocacy groups are calling a victory for the environment. JC IN THE NEWS reporting🚨 open.substack.com/pub/jordancoll…

.@rasjbaraka & I are applauding @GovSherrillNJ's decision to scrap the Newark Bay Bridge expansion — and instead simply replace the existing infrastructure. For years, residents fought against a plan that would have flooded neighborhoods already overburdened with traffic and air pollution. Today, that fight paid off. Governor Sherrill is showing true, community-led leadership. Thank you. This is what happens when communities organize, coalition-build, and refuse to back down. A smarter transportation policy. A healthier future. A win for the people of New Jersey.

I’m thrilled @GovSherrillNJ has chosen a one-bridge plan that won’t add lanes of traffic at any point along the I-78 turnpike extension. This follows years of feedback from experts and advocates, and is a huge win for climate, air quality, traffic congestion and community health!

We signed a letter after the first big storm asking bike lane clearance be a priority for this administration. More than a week after the second storm of the season (and several days of warmish weather), protected bike lanes remain a dumping ground for snow. Clear them now!

We are pleased Jersey City has been making progress on clearing bike lanes during this thaw in the weather. We look forward to learning how the @SolomonforJC will work to make clearing bike lanes a priority in future storms as many commuters and workers rely on those lanes.

Unusable bike lanes on Grand and Merseles on my way home. This forces bikers into the regular flow of traffic. When this is the condition the city leaves its infrastructure in, the message it sends is "if you don't drive, you don't matter."
