I’m livid. There’s a certain type of Republican senator that drives normal people absolutely insane: RINOs. Republican In Name Only. They talk like conservatives back home. They campaign like fighters. They send emails about “protecting democracy” and “standing with the American people.” But when the moment actually arrives… when something real is on the line… they fold like a cheap lawn chair in a hurricane. Not quietly. Not subtly. Predictably. Early Thursday morning, we got another perfect example. And honestly, nobody paying attention should be surprised anymore. Four Republican senators… Sens. Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Susan Collins of Maine, and Mitch McConnell of Kentucky… lined up shoulder to shoulder with every Senate Democrat to kill an effort tied to the SAVE America Act. Forty-eight to fifty. That’s the number. Burn that in your brain. We were close…. The vote wasn’t about some obscure procedural tweak or technical amendment buried in congressional jargon. Strip away the language and what you’re left with is brutally simple: They voted against requiring proof of citizenship to vote in American elections. Not a complicated idea. Just: if you’re going to vote in the United States, you should be a United States citizen. How hard is that? Here’s what really gets under my skin… it’s not just the vote itself. It’s the pattern. Ask anyone who’s been watching Washington for more than five minutes which Republicans are most likely to break ranks the second things get uncomfortable, and you’ll hear THE SAME FOUR NAMES every time. Tillis. Murkowski. Collins. McConnell. It’s like clockwork. They’re not rebels. They’re not principled independents. They’re not bravely standing against the tide. When Democrats can’t quite get across the finish line on their own, these are the Republicans who wander over and quietly hold the door open. And Senate Majority Leader John Thune knows this. John Thune didn’t stumble into this vote by accident. He... open.substack.com/pub/tonyseruga…

Professor Pape’s analysis is sharp. I agree with most of what he lays out in this interview & his substack. I’m advocating for us to walk now to avoid further escalation, sanctions relief can be used to encourage Iran to open the SOH. Our top goal now should be avoiding the plunge into a prolonged conflict.

@realsashastone You always seem to put into words the mess of thoughts I have on these subjects. I’d watch your podcast if you had one!

One year ago today, we launched the MK.Media podcast network, and have been busy building this Devil May Care Media arm ever since. The first podcast we launched was @TheNerveShow with @DM_Maureen_, and it has, objectively, become one of the fastest-growing podcasts in America. Maureen quickly developed a massive following of "Troublemakers," and immediately transformed her brilliant and fully-formed sensibility into a truly original show. Next, we launched @NextUpHalperin with @MarkHalperin. Mark is a singular journalist in America - one of those rarities who is actually objective, filled with sources and wisdom. Next Up is off to a great start, and I have no doubt it will become the most essential place to go for non-partisan reporting and analysis on the political landscape in November and, especially, for 2028. A few weeks later we launched @spotonwithlink with @itslinklauren. Link is a star - he already was racking up views and followers on TikTok and Instagram, but he has grown so much during this first year as a host. He has a unique - and hilarious - voice in the media marketplace. And Spot On is enjoying its best months ever right now, for good reason. The month after that we launched @afterpartyemily with @emilyjashinsky. Our first foray into live-streaming - and late night - Emily has crushed it. As Megyn said at the tour stop last year, Emily will one day be the Queen of All Media. For now, I'm so glad to watch her flourish in this setting where she can truly be herself. In August, we soft-launched @mktruecrime, and that umbrella channel will go full launch in the near future - an entire sub-network within the broader network, focused on one of Megyn's passions: true crime and legal news. The stable we have hosting shows there is unmatched in the true crime space - @aronberg @PhilHollowayEsq @AshleighMerchan @MarkEiglarsh @jonnaspilborlaw @markgeragos and Matt Murphy have done incredible work so far, and the future is bright. (And special thanks to @ArthurAidala too.) So much credit goes to @megynkelly of course at the top, for this visionary offshoot of her massive media brand. And a special thanks as well to social marketing superstar @DMoreno___, and the production teams led by @MarlainaSchiavo, Natasha Pascetta, Kelly Maguire, and @Producer_Kylie, plus the entire team of editorial producers and tech crew who have made MK Media the success that it is after year one. Hundreds of millions of views, millions of downloads, hundreds of thousands of subscribers - and a profitable media network immediately out the gate. It's been a fun journey, thanks to everyone who has been a part of it along the way.
