The Iranian regime is an autocratic one that has devastated lives at home and abroad. Its people deserve so much better. So much better does not come through illegal strikes involving a genocidal actor that drag multiple countries into conflict and kill more civilians.

Increasing tax on VAT & gasoline, instead of taxes on those best able to shoulder additional costs such as with progressive income taxes and tax on vacant properties (currently exempt), will add to the difficulties faced by population, reduce economic activity & delay recovery.
كريم صفي الدين - Karim Safieddine@safieddine00

It's a fact that the Lebanese govt needs revenue to function. What's not a fact is who it'll pursue to get revenue. Those are CHOICES. The govt CHOSE the position of its predecessors: all consumers pay the price. BUT a reformed progressive tax based on income IS possible.

As discussions on the Gap Law intensify in Lebanon, @AliNour88 provides an excellent recap of the origins of the 2019 financial collapse and the ongoing lack of accountability, including the absence of necessary audits and the delays in key criminal trials.
The Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy@TimepDC

Years after Lebanon’s economic collapse, its effects are still felt across the country's social fabric while justice remains elusive. @AliNour88 explains why a sustainable path out of the crisis requires economic recovery plans grounded in accountability: timep.org/2026/01/15/yea…

The Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy@TimepDC

The situation was severe enough to prompt Sisi’s unprecedented public statement. In doing so, he distanced himself from ‘corrupt’ parties, potentially shielding the upcoming parliament, which may enable an extension of his presidency, from accusations of illegitimacy. 4/11
